Stand By

If my computer goes on Stand By will it keep my internet connection going. ex: AIM?

is there any setting for it to stay connected? besides just leaving it on

When your computer goes to standby mode, its pretty much like turning it off. Are you trying to save power? A normal PC uses about $5 - $20 of power a month depending on how you use it.

We have over 200 servers here, our electric bill is around $2,500 a month, and the includes cooling and other shit. Honestly, most computers cost $5 a month to power, if you are a power heavy user, maybe $10 or even $15, but if your computer is idle 60% of the time ( which most are ), then turning one off or going to standby isnt going to save you much. Your monitor being cut off will save a good amount as it usually generates a lot more heat, which needs to be cooled etc...
