i had starband 2 years ago... i personally like to play online games... and starband sucked for that, avg ping times to yahoo.com = 700ms and up... average game server ping times = 1300ms+
if you are just up for browsing the web and downloading.. it works great.. .but pricy. (although i think they have better pricing available on the equipment now... it was 900 bucks for the equipment and install when i bought it.)
The satellite thing is better than dialup but pricey. The equipment is about 700 upfront with 59.99 a month for about 1.2 down and 128 up at best. OR you can sign upp for one year and pay 99.99 a month and own it after that.
ISDN cards are like modems, but 5 times faster. They require special telephone lines, which cost a little (or a lot, depending on your phone company) more than normal phone lines. ..ISDN, which stands for Integrated Services Digital Network, is a system of digital phone connections which has been available for over a decade. This system allows data to be transmitted simultaneously across the world using end-to-end digital connectivity.
When it says 5x faster your talking in the range of 128k to 256k.
