Angry restart, no workie....

Computer starts up fine but when I hit the restart button in windows it acts like its going to start up and even turns on, ie: media drives open and close, fans run etc. But nothing comes up on screen like it has gone retarted. Again when I turn it off and on it works fine but re-start is fucking up, anyone heard of this before or know how to fix it? I have already reset the bios and cleaned up windows as well as done a virus scan and clean up I just can't figure out what the hell is wrong.

Never heard of that! Sounds like a hardware problem. Are the shutdown times the same when you choose restart or shutdown? WHat OS? Custom rig?

Shutdown times don't change a thing it could be 5 hours or 5 seconds but if I "restart" it fucks up. Windows XP O.S. Alienware Area 51- P4 3.2ghz 800mhz hyperthread. Don't know if that would make any differnece but if you need any more info on its guts, just post up. Also I would just send it in because it is under waranty but I don't feel like waiting forever to get it back. I would like to try and fix it myself.
