Printing problem - longshot...

I've had some resistance in the past getting Lexmark printers to work with linux but eventually get them working. We just got a new model at work Lexmark E321 (please dont flame me I know they suck) and I'm not able to get it to work. I've tried setting it up locally, setting it up through Samba. The drivers/utility that Lexmark provides crashes with a Segmentation Fault while trying to create a Queue(under the lexmark utility). Creating the printer under CUPS works ok (using the E312 driver - basicly the same driver). When I print to it the printer the document gets spooled, the Data light flashes a few times, then the Error light finishes. CUPS reports a sucessful print job. Any help besides urinating on the bastard and requesting a different model?

Try a selftest on the printer, and also try changing cables.

Self test works.
Works fine installed on a W2k computer.
Tried both parallel and USB. Switched back to parallel after reading RH9 had problems with USB.

Impossible.

If it works under W2K, it has to work under RH9.

I would believe the reverse of the situation.

printers have a rom installed for fonts. try printing with a standard font to test. i work with printers all day long. see this about every other day. basicly what happens is the printjob gets to the printer... doesnt' know how to print it ( doesn't have the required font) reports that the job is complete, and then errors on the printer itself. i have manuals at work .. i'll post up tomorrow if i find anything. is it a e320 or e312?

Newbies, please watch THIS before posting.
