Do all DVD's do this, or just a particular one? Also, you may try another media player ... remove that crap that came with the computer, it may be what's causing all this. Download a trial version of PowerDVD, or WinDVD and see what it does.

Also, check to see if you have Interactual Player, or PC Friendly installed on the computer. If you do, get rid of those as well, and pray you don't have to manually remove them from the registry ... it'd be easier to format/reinstall than to get all their hooks out of the registry.

What version of media player? You might try upgrading to 9, and any updates that might be available for it. If you're still running 7, or 8 that came with XP, that's probably why WMP's not working right.

Windows Media Player doesn't have a DVD decoder built into it, so unless you have another software decoder installed, it ain't gonna work.
