Thumbs down my cd burner finally died...

it was an old old old burner.. it has probably burned a few thousand cd's.. and i laid it to rest this afternoon....

it was one of the first rewritable burners ever i think... which sucked cause i paid about 80-100 bucks more for it at the time.. and i never even used a cd-rw in it... lol it was 4x2x4 old huh??

it is being replaced with an external 54x32x54 firewire drive.. this should make some toast real quick

yeah, we've had a USB 6x4x6 for about 2-3 years now, and it's still going strong, and I've never used a cd-rw either, but just got in a 52x24x52 ide cd-rw

Do you have to use Speed Specific Media in order to R/RW at those speeds?

I can't belive none of you guys have never used CD-RW's! I use InCD for packet writing and it makes my CD-RW like a big floppy disk that I can drag and drop in and out of. I also use CD-RW's for playing MP3's in my truck, I like changing out the music I listen to sometimes and it beats wasting a CD-R to change my listening style (I know CD-R's are cheap but so am I ).

EDIT: Yes you have to get CD's that are designed to for that speed... the ones i get now are good to 32x i think

I usually buy a spindel of 50 memorex cd's for 20 bucks.. the price of the CD-RW's are double that (thye may not be anymore) but ive always stuck with the 50 pack of memorex CD-R's

I also misread the burner.. it rewrites at 24.. not 32
