a lesson I would like to pass on...

I just bought a tornado fan and heatsink for my computer yesterday.... and when I was installing it I had the bright idea to put it on backwards.... not thinking there was a front and a back....

well I get it all hooked up and about half way through the post it just reboots... over and over and over again

so in the trouble shooting I try all the wires to make sure it is all good... then I decide to go into bios and check the temp and fan speed...the cpu fan speed was 5400 and it was at like 120F

wtf

so I pulled it all off and reallize the heat sink was not touching cause I had it on backwards... I replace it correctly and check the temp.... 64F

MUCH better

so now my machine has 3 case fans and the tornado cpu heat sink... and I am still going to put two more one in the side of the case and one on top (custom mountings)

you may ask why.... well when I pulled the heat sink.. I found that my XP2100 that I thought I had over clocked to a 2400 is a 2400

so it is time to over clock

How the heck did it snap on backwards? What do you have your FSB and your multiplier set to?

and I am not sure on the mulitpliers.. I will have to look again...

I will post up sometime this week or weekend...

I could see that it's easy to install the fan backwards just remember that there is a "lip" on the fan that matches up with the processor mount.
