fairly certain that it has a fast download and slow upload

unless of course it's changed, I don't think you can upload via the satellite, only through your dial-up

I'm sure if you did a google search you'd find better info, or perhaps www.directv.com

goodluck

go to www.dslreports.com I've heard bad in most cases, but I've heard in limited availability areas, that it's pretty good.

But, go to Dslreports.com - it's a good non-biased site.

Thanks..After reading numerous posts I think I'll pass and just put up with the dial up @ home.I do most of my surfing @ work and they have bad ass T1 or something like that.I'll just continue to only open the dirty stuff at home.

yeah, normal satellite service is like 400k down, and dialup for uploading. You can get 2 way service for both up and down through the satellite, but it's UBER expensive.

I had starband for about a year... it is a decent alternative.. back when i got it.. it was about a 1000 for equipment and install. then 60 bucks a month if you subscribed to dishnetwork... (although i think the price has come wayyyyyy down since then.)

i would see average speeds of 500k down.. and 100 or so up.

the big drawback... is the the latency of packet transmissions is unbelievbly high... a ping to yahoo was over 800ms...

To sum it up.. if you want to download some porn ... 2 way satalite is owrth it.. if you want to play FPS games... dont even bother...
