3.7 seconds for 1MB file

Not bad. I'm on Comcast cable.

Another good test is http://elkgrove.speedtest.frontiernet.net/ which will test your upload speed too.

Which one is more accurate?

Its hard to tell, text downloads can be compressed over http, images that are in jpeg format are already compressed and yeild more accurate results, especially high quality jpegs. Uncompressed TIFF files also help, but they are HUGE. Its really hard to have a precise bandwidth meter, but they are close enough.

Here's mine on Wireless (PurelyOnline).

Not bad, but I get jealous when I go over to my friends on actual hard wired cable and I see 2.1 - 3Mbit on average But, this is infinitely better than my ass being stuck at 28.8 dialup because of the shitty phone lines!

The difference you see from DSLReports and this place is simply the networks the servers are sitting on and the routes taken to get to your computer.

One server may be located in LA and have to take 12 bounces to hit your computer. Another in LA or even in NY may take 18 bounces and slower pipes to your computer.

Press the Print Screen button on your keyboard, then paste it in paint. Cut to the desired size, then save as a jpeg.

What do you have at home that would give you 236 megabit? That'd take some serious money, just to get set up, let alone monthly payments

You sure that's not your connection at work (or even school perhaps)?

So that's not a normal speed? Only thing I can guess is it pulled from the cache (even though that's supposed to be a script that pulls the image from the server, rather than the cache)

Pretty impressive for Verizon, considering I NEVER got over 1.1 and I'm not that far from the CO.

I think it was just a glitch @ the 236 MB p/s.
