Where to get a new computer?

Should I try and piece one together or what? I kinda just want to get just the tower with everything in it I want. I have a monitor, keyboard, etc. I will just buy those at a later time.

Where would be the best place on the net to get just a tower w/ everything. Or would it be better to just get a case with a motherboard, RAM, hard drive and just plug in the video card, sound card, and DVD CD combo?

What would be the best thing to do? I have windows XP on disk so I don't want a computer with stuff already on it.

The computer will be for gaming mostly and doing school work.

I want to play games like Warcraft 3 without slowdown and maybe Doom 3 when it comes out, but it doesn't have to run perfectly.

Its cheaper to buy rather than build these days unless you want to build a high end machine for heavy duty gaming.

I always recommend Dell desktops.
If you want to go REAL cheap, you can buy a PC for $199 at Walmart.com. It has Lycoris (a linux distrobution) pre installed but you can always rip that off and put in Windows if you so choose.

I always recommend Dell as well. They have a bunch of pretty good deals going on. Check them out.

Blah!

Dell makes shitty gaming desktops. If you want something for gaming, get an Alienware, or something along those lines, that's built for gaming.

I always recommend building your own, and while it's marginally cheaper (but often the same or higher price) to buy a pre-built system ... if you build your own, you have the luxury of building it to your specifications, every component.

If you want a basic general purpose computer, then get a Dell. If you want a gaming computer, get something built to be a gaming computer, or build your own.

Was just out at First Sat on the 5th. There are definitely some amazing deals to be had out there, but you gotta get there early (like midnight), and be prepared to spend the whole night out there, as more vendors start showing up closer to daybreak. That's not to say selection is sparse in the wee hours, by any means
