... does the camera have a usb cable? Should just plug right up, and if it's not recognized, it should have come with some software / drivers to get it going. If that's still a no go, then go to the manufacturer's website, and download the drivers.
Also, you could look into getting a media reader (whichever works with the media your camera uses), and have it connected to the computer all the time, and when you want to send files from the camera to the computer, just pop the card out, plug it in the reader, and copy the images as you would any normal file through Explorer (drag & drop, copy & paste, or cut & paste). A dedicated reader might be a little faster than going through the camera, and also will save the batteries in the camera, since it doesn't have to be on while you're transferring files.
