Angry How come my DSL slows down

When I plug any device into any other phone jack in my apartment?

I have been messing with it now for 2 hours.

I found out:

The DSL only likes a straight, short connection from the jack to the modem.

I can't T anything off of the same connection or it won't work at all

I can't plug the fax and phone into a nearby jack or that slows it down as well....

What gives?

I am using the filters on everything except the DSL modem.

Wiring may not be great in your apt. or home. Used to have crappy wiring in my apartement complex and I'd rarely get over 500 kbps. With Cable I now get 1.5 - 2 mbps

are you using the filters that they give you...

and do you have any wireless phone jacks on your system anywhere in the house...

what happes is the new devices cause line noise and you loose sync with the ISP....

the filters help but not a lot... you can also call the isp and have them trouble shoot it over the phone with you and see what device is causeing the most line noise and get rid of it cause something is wrong with it...

but make damn sure you have a filter on every used jack in the house.....
