Question Whats wrong with my slow ass computer?

For about a week now my computer runs at about 1/4 the speed it was before. I mean downloading videos and for surfing. I have run disk defragmenter, disk cleanup and every other program I could to help. I think. I have also deleted all files and programs and games I dont use.

I have Windows XP. And use MSN for dial up. Did I pick up a virus or something maybe? Is there a way to find out? Any help would be appreciated.

Get adaware from lavasoft.de to get rid of any spyware, Make sure you have the XP Service Pack 1 installed. Look in the task manager for any programs that look suspicious. What antivirus software do you have?

Go to windowsupdate.com and see if it wants you to download it. Xp runs liek crap unless SP1 is installed. Get yourself some antivirus software asap. ITs probably a virus.

You can use TrendMicro's House Call, it's free and works through your browser. Just go here; http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and you don't have to register either.

Thanks for the help so far. I have no viruses and have deleted a lot of spyware. My computer is running much better. I will be running these programs on a regular basis now.
