Chaplains

Any of you have them at work? Nice people. They're always kinda awkward to talk to for me though. Really soft spoken and very.....baptist, or reserved, I guess. Don't really talk to them about religion or problems or anything, they just have a habit of walking in on conversations that I'd rather not have with a chaplain.

Yes and he complained about the Maxium mags in the bathroom so we had to remove them. Like you said, awkward to talk to.

I don't know what their direct duties are to the church. I just know they go to businesses and offer "guidance" upon request. They're really nice people, I just have to be extra careful what I say around them. They're usually older, very conservative. I'm not exactly a saint.

Present tense.

A chaplain is typically a priest, pastor, ordained deacon, rabbi, imam or other member of the clergy serving a group of people who are not organised as a mission or church, or who are unable to attend church for various reasons; such as health, confinement, or military or civil duties;

We have one in our hospital, he's a great guy. When I got pretty sick a few weeks back and was in our ER he came in just to see how I was doing and if I needed anything.

Well he said, not organized and not affiliated, so that's different then the men of the cloth who are organized, and are affiliated with the church/religion. That's why I got that they are "just some guy".

It's the people they are serving that are not organized or affiliated, not the actual Chaplain, bonehead. Your edited quote completely changes the context. The Chaplain does have an affiliation (Catholic, Baptist, Jewish, etc.) though they will typically provide services for multiple denominations as they do in the Military.

Nope.
I meant that ALL men of the cloth, affiliated with whatever church, are just another guy.
