What happened today(dec 25)

It's Christmas and not one thread about the birth of your savior? It's been fairly well established that Jesus wasn't born on Dec 25, but it is the "official" date.

I'm disappointed in the bible thumpers here.

I think Easter should be the big event, but it is not practiced that way.
What is the spiritual significance of the birthday?

They are probably all out doing fellowship with family and friends, giving and serving God, and most importantly, giving grace. But that's just my guess...

Oh, and Merry Christmas!

The virgin birth, Jesus humbling Himself to become a mortal like us, etc. Easter is big too, but almost everyone celebrates Christmas (religious or not), so it just seems like the bigger of the two.

Most of us don't have time to play on the interweb today because we are giving thanks, but have fun anyway! God Bless!

Excellent, thanks Phillystang. Pretty much backs up my opinion on Christmas. And thanks for remembering my name.

Is Christ's birth "celebrated" or directed to celebrate anywhere in the Bible?
When the sheperds went back to their work, how were they changed men? Does it mean that they did not need Christ's crucifiction?

Why isn't the Easter a much more Mega Event in this culture? Isn't that the Main Event?

Only if you view his death as more valuable than the body of work he did in his 33 years of life.

His death sealed the Second Covenant, so yes, it's rather "valuable" LOL

They are all equally important and salvation could not have been accomplished without 3 things...

His birth
His death
His resurrection

He had to be born to enter the world
He had to die to fulfill the sacrificial role
He had to come back from death to gain authority FROM sin of 'hell and death'

Easter should be more important in a mortal sense though. Many people have been born, many have died, but only One has come back after dying.

Which would have made me $hit my freaking pants, even if it just so happened to be that i was a friend of his or something way back when. I would have fled to one of the far corners of the earth, out of fear.
