PKAdventure advances “Truth in Action” at local cinemas

Theater event features actor Alan Autry, The Truth Project’s Dr. Del Tackett, PK7, and community service

Promise Keepers, the international ministry to men, presents its second cinema and community service event, PKAdventure, in 14 cities nationwide on Saturday morning, April 12, 2008. (More cites are being added to the list.)

The event begins at 8 o’clock local time with a 90-minute digital cinema production featuring actor Alan Autry, Dr. Del Tackett from Focus on the Family’s Truth Project and big screen worship with PK7. The production also introduces the antics of a small group of men working through some thorny issues.

Following the digital video, teams of men will disperse to community service projects for the remainder of the morning. Projects include food drives, blood drives, a cookout for homeless men, and light construction.

“Promise Keepers helps men connect with God and each other, whether we’re in theaters, arenas, at work, at home, at play or at church.” said Dr. Tom Fortson, president and CEO of Promise Keepers. “We’ve got a creative presentation on the foundational truths of Christianity that men can relate to, without being trite, and without easy answers. Further, men always grow in faith when they help others in the community.”

"The Father-heart of God was... thrilled with me -- an immature, mess-making spiritual infant... My heavenly Father was enjoying me while I was yet in the process of maturing, not sighing in disgust and waiting impatiently until I grew up. He loved and longed for me; He felt proud and was excited over me while I was falling short."

It is time we acknowledged a basic feature of human discourse: when considering the truth of a proposition, one is either engaged in an honest appraisal of the evidence and logical arguments, or one is not. Religion is the one area of our lives where people imagine that some other standard of intellectual integrity applies.
