Donnie Darko

Did anyone see this movie? I watched it last night and it has messed with my mind so much. It talks about time travel and how our futures our pre-destined and if we stay in that set path that has been pre-destined then we can see into our own futures. But if we step off of that path then everything goes wrong, its nuts. Its got a good cast and this 6 foot tall bunny rabbit thats pretty creepy. If anyone has seen it this could turn into a good/crazy discussion.

great movie......and I understand it ....and the bunny rules...totally didnt see that ending coming either

To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

its make you think about the repercussions of every choice and how it ripples into other peoples lives. its like you could indirectly cause a huge tragedy in someones life without knowing it. come on guys lets get somethin goin... who believes that our futures or possible futures have been pre-destined by God?

Great movie, for sure. Technically it's not really "time travel" as much as it's parallel dimensions, and fixing a huge gaping hole in the fabric of the universe

I've seen the original and the director's cut, and just when I think I understand it, I forget what I was thinking about.

The Butterfly Effect was pretty good too. I was surprised, expecting it to suck. It was more "spoon fed" than Donnie Darko, meaning there's never a question about what exactly the movie is about, but still pretty good.

Can someone explain to me why Frank the bunny rabbit is Donnie's imaginary friend, but then he turns out to be a real person?

Donnie was supposed to die from the engine. When he didn't, it created a rift between two dimensions. The whole movie takes place in essentially an alternate dimension, where Frank is dead, because Donnie shot him ... in the originating dimesion. Frank's ghost appears to Donnie in the alternate dimension to lead Donnie through all the steps he would need to take, to finally understand that he has to die, or the rift will destroy the universe.

In the special features of the original dvd (haven't checked on the director's cut yet), you can read through some pages of the time travel book. It definitely explains a lot. The director's cut, some of the scenes are shown with an overlay of some of the book, that kind of explain what's going on during the following scenes.

That movie was awesome. I want to see it again if someone wants to set up a movie night or something.

The ending was pretty cool. I mean, it was hard to follow at first but WOW.
