Something to memorialize.

Over in the Back Porch I posted some pictures of all the veterans and current service men and women that were taken at our Memorial Day service held this morning.
Here is a link if you care. Link

I left one out though that I thought might be more appropriate in the Theology Corner.

I was not going to say anything until I was absolutely sure of the calling, but now I know. Over the past several months I have been struggling with a call to service. A service both to my God and to my country. The decision has been made and I will shortly head down the path that has been set before me. This morning at church I accepted the call to ministry. Presently I feel a strong leading toward the Army Chaplaincy. I will be directly commissioned 2LT by the end of the year as I start my Masters of Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. My plans for now are to go back active duty and try to secure a spot somewhere back in Special Operations.

Surprised!?!? I am!

Here is a picture of me accepting the call to full time ministry before my church.

Dude, that is awesome! I think you would make a great chaplain. I wish I had a chaplain like you when I was in, I probably would have stayed out of trouble.

Thanks man. I am full of excitement and dread. The dread has to do with the 3 years of full time seminary coupled with full time work.

Yeah, back around '88-'89 I went to school (computer science) 20 hours and worked 40 hours. Did that for a full year. It was definitely a beatdown. I'll pray that God gives you the strength need to see this through and that the devil will keep his grimy paws off you in the process.
