What type of church

Since most of us in here attend some type of church, I would like to know what kind of church it is. Baptist, Methodist, Catholic...ect. And if you are of some other religion post that up as well.

I myself go to Covenant Church in Carrollton it is a non-denominational church. It started out as a Pentecostal church about 25 years ago but my pastor got away from all the legal issues like women only wearing long dresses, women not cutting hair, men not having facial hair, makeup and all kinds of other stuff.

Church of Christ (More liberal than a traditional "everybody else is going to hell" C.O.C.)

We've gotten away from the thoughts that you have to have the name C.O.C. in the name of your church in order to be saved. There's no scripture for it, it's just a man-made tradition. Although we do not have musical instruments in our worship service we no longer feel that it is a sin to do so, like our conservative counterparts.

Basically that's about it. We have a whole host of "sick" people who attend our church. I love the fact that people who are stuggling with a particular sin can feel that they have a right to attend service knowing that while their sin won't be encourgaged, they can have people care about their souls, pray with them, counsel them, preach to them and encourage them.

I pastor an Independent Bible Church, non-denominational if you will. I just don't like to say non-denominational...non is a negative word and the denominational attitudes people have are silly to me anyways.

HAHA, thats true. Mine is actually listed as an inter-denominational church but most people know the term, non-. I guess it is supposed to mean that we are a congregation from all walks of life and all religious backgrounds.

First Baptist Church of Forney - It's considered old school compared to some of the newer more inspirational churches, but they are slowly introducing live instruments to modernize it. The old hymms played on the pipe organ is fine, but the new stuff is better at keeping the young faces interested.

I grew up Baptist myself. I personally like the old hymns but like you said, the younger crowd cant really relate, so churches must do what they have to to keep them coming, as long as there is no compromising the gospel.

The older folks were having a fit with it's been a a slow progression. I personally like to see a set of drums and guitar on the stage.

I HAVE BEEN THERE - One of my friends who is a well known evangelist did a meeting there a couple of years ago. His name was Paul Vick...

Although I've been a member for 15 years, it's a big church so I unfortunately don't know everybody. The area around Forney has grown so our membership has probably doubled in the last 5-10 years.

Wow, there is one heck of a mix around here. Its no wonder we have a tendency to disagree from time to time. But its all good, even though there are a million different demominations there is still only one God and one mediator between God and man, Jesus Christ.

I grew up going to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. But now they've dropped Episcopal from the Churches name due to the Gay Bishop stuff. They are still an Episcopal Church, they are just trying to do something to distance themselves from what the National Episcopal Church has done that they disagree with. However, since 2000, I've gone to a Non-Denominational Church. (Or however you want to say it)

I heard it referred to as the AG by some AG preacher friends of mine, and to answer your question it is the Assembly of God.
