Teen, in need of his first job!

My brother is in need of a first job. He is a huge gearhead, and is turning wrenches every weekend. Mowing lawns is getting a little old for him

Honest
Literate
*Mature
Trustworthy
Mechanically inclined
Has pride in his work
Has a great work ethic

We live in Keller, but he is willing to work within 5 or so miles. Will work mon-friday 7am-7pm m-f, except for school (by law.) And any 8hr. shift Saturday and Sunday.

NO NO NO, it should be DFWLS1's, CUMMINS, C6 VETTES.net

Kroger has a huge distribution center right there. Im sure all it would take is stopping by and filling out an app. Its a start and Im sure they would be willing to work with his schedule if he wanted to go to school etc.

x2 I live by there and they seem to be ok. But how old is he? I work for FedEx Freight and the age limit is 18.

A restaurant would be good to learn people skills. Plus coming home with cash every night is nice too.

True, I noticed the hours the OP posted and that really wouldn't work either.

how old is he? that would really narrow it down because if he is 16 kroger would really be the only choice posted so far. and there DC pays pretty good but i think he would only be allowed to work at a store pushing carts/bagging.

He is 15. McDonalds already said they would give him a job, but he would like to find something automotive. By law, in Texas, if you are 14-15, you may work from 7am-7pm M-F on NON-school days. On school days, you may work 3hrs/day after school. Saturday and sunday, you may work 8hrs a day. But no more than 18hrs in a week.

x2

there's no shame in a kid working at a grocery store either...it's a job and gives him a little spending money. I don't know if the Kroger DC will hire someone that young.

IMO..there's gonna be plenty of time for him to work. If he has free time, how about taking some extra classes at school to graduate early and get a head start on college?

Being 17, I wish I really would have done that... I started at 13 on summers with my uncle, 14 I don't remember what I did... But 15 - 16 I worked at the skating rink, and 17 I worked with my parents which was fun driving and working with people and driving across states but 10 - 14 hours of driving a day got old quick, And now fixing to be 18 I work at the Bowling alley. And Having what I have I'm greatful for and glad I have money, but I really wish I could have graduated early.

Working will do him good... I learned poeple skills and learned the VALUE of money real quick....

no places will, he has to be old enough to be on the companys insurance and 15 wont cut it. tell him to go work at a carwash as a towelboy/detailer/ thats the only chance i think he will have to be that young and work around cars. plus they will prolly just pay him under the table so no taxes.

Go see if he can get a job at the Southlake Costco. They pay something like $10/hr starting, and it's good work.

I think they hire at 16

Might be tough at 15 to get into the automotive industry. I started working at 14 as a busboy at a chinese restaurant, cash work obviously.

Then again, most places admire ambition. If he comes across as pretty ambitious he might be able to grab a job at an oil/lube place, sweeping up and what not while he learns the ropes.
