jobs in iraq

if anyone is interested Mantech is hiring for positions in iraq and afganastan, they have several fields to look up but we need mechanics that i know of mechanics start out about 120k a year but it depends on your experience from there i can tell you that it is a good company and easy money perfect for a single man.

also force protection is hiring i welders and mechanics they are offering more money dont know how much but they lose contracts so the job security is kind of iffy

there are many other companies hiring but many of them are predicting lay off soon many jobs are going back to the military. dont know if anyone is interested but i figured to post up and let yall know. hit me up if you would like some details

With Congress threatening to withdrawal funding for the War, this job is not a safe bet. Many civilian contractors are going to be put out of work unless the DOD gets its funding. Be careful doing something like this.

And for those of you interested in this but worried about your safety, you'll likely never go outside the wire and will be confined to a base, so you'll be fine. I'd love to make six figures here...takes me over two years to pull six figures and I'm over here all the fucking time.

Maybe DOD contracts, but i know a few other GOV run contracts that aren't military related, those jobs have better security. In the end it will be a while before anyone goes anywhere.......... WARS MAKE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!

What base in Kuwait are you at? I was just there last summer and had to go off base twice, body armor and M-16 both times. Dunno any company who would allow anyone to take their families to a country that publicly beheads criminals...

At any rate, DOD contracts are a no-go if you want job security.

You're kidding right?

I'm not saying this is not true in all case, but I can name at least 3 IT based companies that pay huge amounts more for actually being in Afghan/Iraq as opposed to Kuwait. In fact, some people "based" in Kuwait were getting paid shit and made to visit Iraq a few times a month - so they quit.

...either that or they REALLY lowered the pay for Iraq.

Kuwait gets paid well, but not as much as Iraq or Afghanistan. The places that get paid shit compared to those two are Qatar and UAE. I was talking to one of the vehicle mechanics out at the smoke pit the other day and he told me he's making $110k to be here (Qatar) for a year. Didn't ask what company he worked for though...if I see him (or any of them) again I'll ask and post up the name. I'd love $110k to be here for a goddamn year.

110K for Qatar is not bad IMO. Now, what pisses me off is a contractor disclosing his/her salary to military. I made it a rule to NEVER do that. Everytime I saw a contractor do that...

1. That usual comments were made.
2. It sure as shit did not help morale.

Take care,

contractors have always been able to live off post in kuwait its been a perm party place for the army for over 3 years your not required to take a weapon off post unless escorting large amounts of troops and you can wear about anything to go down town.. hell you can go shopping and everything.... its just like qatar... as for the jobs yes IT jobs do pay more in iraq but being a mechanic pays just about the same in both except you work longer hours in iraq just depends on the company you come ove with lsi you bearly make 75k a year as a wheeled veh. mech.

The company is Northrop Grumman in case you were wondering. None of the mechanics are making 110K there, highest you will get paid as a mechanic there is ~$70K with bonuses and before deductions. That is assuming you are the highest paid mechanic there.

It wasn't Northrop. The only Northcrop people I've talked to here were aircraft related for the KC-135s.

sorry for not checking this but ive been busy and internet has been down their are alot of companies hiring vse has a new contract mantech is filling spots for the mrap contract. im not trying to steer anyone in the wrong direction seeing as i was dicked around by different companies the day after i applied with mantech they called me i think it is a good company or i would not tell yall about i know vse is also a good company. as far as working in kuwait you make the same wage but most companies take away the uplift or atleast a big chunk of it and thats where the real money comes from. if you do apply with mantech apply for the heavy mech slots if their open its the same job but more starting pay anymore questions pm me or email me at [email protected]

Gentlemen, make no mistake i know exactly what and how things are going on over there. i did my tours to Bagram with the Army.

Later i opted to get out, so i could be a contractor.
Currently i work for DYNCORP on a contract down south of the states, not in the sand box.
its like this, Just remember when you are a contractor, EVERYONE is only looking out for themselves and WILL fuck you over if they think it will get them ahead, Keep that in the back of your mind, let nothing be personal and you can be a contractor with ANY company. DynCorp has +'s and -'s . they have a A TON of contracts, name the country, if the US is there, DynCorp has a contract there. so locations are cool to select from, BUT you have to know someone first to get those COOL countries that pay decent. I don't make mega bucks, but its better than what i could get in the states with just highschool and military background. i enjoy my time off and for now it works. I'm trying to get myself to a point where i can walk away from any job and not worry, and i'm close to that point , but not just yet, in the mean time i just keep my head down, do my job and get paid.

I got mine, now go get yours.

the only way to get your foot in the door also without knowing a current employee, is the slow selection process and wait for the call. once yourt in start making contacts and do forget to be political.

I got mine, now go get yours.

the only way to get your foot in the door also without knowing a current employee, is the slow selection process and wait for the call. once yourt in start making contacts and do forget to be political.
join sandline and goto africa if theyre still around u just might be asked to sacrifice ur morals according to some human rights orgs.

You can also keep deploying to Falluja and Ramadi and eating MREs while taking showers with a gallon of water and having to 'check six' all the time.

Personally, I like staying in hardened dorms (not tents), having decent chow hall food, plenty of hot bitches around, days off, etc. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

I miss my son for a whole lot less than that. Hell, for $120k I'd go anywhere in the world almost for a year just so long as it's not snowing all year round.

Its like this, if you don;t know anything or anyone already involved, start researching your own and good luck. Once you have a shoe in its a ton easier to find out about other contracts, companys, and job positions.

good luck its not for everyone.

I am currently on the way to Iraq. I leave on the 11th. I got dicked around by KBR that wouldnt pay but 75k. I got in touch with ITT and got hired to work on tactical vehicles for 155k a year. The benefits are great and the bonus are great. I would suggest anybody wanting to go over the contact ITT. They pay for traing and everything, and any money you spend they reimbursh you. I cant wait to leave.

I have applied several times through ITT's website, did you do anything special?

I have always heard great things about ITT.
