Sell Cars make money!

I am a sales manager at Vandergriff Honda and we are tring to increase are sales floor to 50 consultants. It is a six day a week job long hours and stress. Sounds like fun right! It is when you are making 50k-80k in your first year with no degree or experience. Is it guaranteed NO! The only way you cant make that at my dealership is if you hide from customers. We sell over 500 new and pre owned cars a month! That is why we need more motivated hard working people to make the money you wish you could. I am not a bull shitter. I came straight out of the Marine Corps and in the car business. 8 months later I was promoted. Just give me a shout for more details. Only stips is that you can pass a hair folicle drug test and a background check. (817)637-0828 Josh

Sweet...an un-guarenteed 50-80K a year for long hours and 6 days a week?! haha...who the hell would wanna work those hours for that much? At lease stretch it a little more and say a possible 6 figures. That seems to be the magic phrase.

This was for tring to help people to get a job for the holidays and a possible career. Not for you ass holes to correct my spelling. Yes it is a hair follicle test. For you turds that arent looking for a job get off my shit, if you need a job and would like to make some good money hit me up. To make 70k in a year with no degree is pretty good if I say so. Me being in the Marines gave me the advantage of being good at what I do because it takes a stong work ethinic to be in the car business. I am 24 and have a brand new 2400 Sq ft house with 3 nice cars from this job. Yea the hours are long but fuck for that kind of money why not. If you make that money legally working 40 hrs a week without a degree let me know and I will quit right now! So sorry for incorrect spelling if you want a SELL'S! job let me know.

Dont die for your country make them die for theirs.

So how do you work "long hours" but only put in 40...?

Anyways, to answer your question, work construction. To be specific, be an electrician. Work your way up after 5 years and become a project manager (if you're good enough/skilled/smart/etc.) and be rolling in 80-120K depending on the size of the company. Hell, even chief estimators pull that, and no degree required. FYI...

Hell, good journeymen get ~50 to 60K and I personally know a few that barely finished High School

he was saying that if you knew of a job that made that kind of money only working 40 hours, then he would quit his current job. Not saying he only worked 40 hours a week.

Either way, you gave him a few ideas, so i guess that means he is going to quit his job.

Question if all of you have jobs why are you looking in the job forum? Oh I get it you do volunteer work for the site on correcting people. Nice gig but get a life. Just tring to help out some of the guys on here, because some have helped me out. Not everybody is able to get a job that makes decent money without school or experience, so I am offering that to them.

hahaha

I worked there several years ago.... Man, some of the shit I saw. I doubt any of the guys I knew work there any longer. The turn over is regoddamdiculous cause you work 60-70 hrs a week for people that don't give a fuck about you serving people that think you're lower than shit while working along side guys that would stab you in the back for the 3 bucks in your pocket. People want more than just money from a job. People want job satisfaction doing something they find rewarding. Empty promises and obviously transparent lies might get them in the door but it won't keep them there longer than 2 months.

meh, I was over that place 3 weeks after I started

p.s. this is prolly true of most new car dealers though, just for everyone's info

I tell you what, I have seen journeymen elect.'s only make good money for a while and then they are off to the next contractor with work cause they are starving. As far as working your way up, you can make 100k in less time than 5 years. And most everytime either a contractor or some of those other jobs you mentioned comes in to buy , they can't buy crap because their work load is less consistent than ours, so they can't pay their bills consistently. Hell I work for a small dealership and I'll make about 60k this year. I work hard some of the time during the week and only come in to see what deals I will stumble on Saturday, while I get my lunch bought and watch college football. I have worked at plants, sales manager at a rental company, delivery driver, liscensed insurance agent, collector/credit. Screw going back to an hourly job, especially where you have to be out in the elements or one's that you can only work as long as it doesn' rain. I decided to stop making money with my back, and now I use my brain. Nothing against what anybody does for a living, this just works better for me.

I work here at Vandergriff Honda as well, not in sales, but deal with the fuckers all day. We have some of the best managers working here. Management from other dealers are just waiting for an opt. to work here. Pay plans are great for those who can work.

If you have no problem talking to strangers then you can sell cars!

Not true. My father was a journeyman for 3 years, became a master, and was at his company for 19 years before he decided to be superintendent at a company started by his former project manager

Duh! I was being considerate in the time frame. Starting elec. helpers will pull 10-12 hour depending on company and ability to actually know what the hell they are doing. Journeyman average in Texas is about 19/hr, although our company average is about 21/hr for journeyman, and around 26/hr for lead-men with the superintendents hauling in 30+/hr. One of our journeyman has only 4 ½ years TOTAL experience in the elec. field but is already at 65K. Again, this goes back to knowing what the hell you are doing and how good you are at it. All can be had with even less time, depending on the career path & time frame, as well as education level. Where's FreighTrain when you need him...

LOL @ the analytical standpoint you have. I can say that I don’t see a damn car dealer in a nice car or house and it can be true (I don’t) but it doesn’t necessarily mean every electrical contractor and electrician in the nation can’t afford a nice car/house.

What the hell was I thinking when I bought my Mustang GT AND my Navigator with no down payment …?!?!?!?!?!? I know I damn sure wasn’t thinking about my or my company’s work load… but then again, I wouldn’t work at Joe-Blow Electric, with the office being the pick-up bed.

PM’s and estimators don’t work in the elements. We sit behind a desk all day in front of some blueprints without having to worry about the elements, customers, other trades people, and get to spend all day surfing the net. It’s tough, but fair.

Wrong again. If the company managed the work force, labor, scheduling, business relations, service department, low-voltage department, warranty/punch-list, loan management (labor-wise, not money), and had partnerships and memberships thru an electrical association such as the IEC http://www.ieci.org/ or NECA http://www.necanet.org/ they wouldn’t have to worry about it. Again, goes back to the pick-up truck contractor versus the established company contractor.

Same here, but I wanted to get the facts out in the open. You know, in case someone was/is curious.

Hey cooter sounds like you got your head ripped off at a dealership and now you are bitter about it. If you would like to know how it was done give me a shout I deal with ass holes like you all day everyday and you go from dealer to dealer to find the "best deal" to save a couple of bucks. Everybody buys cars and not every dealership has the same type of sales people. We are just consultants sit down find out what your needs and wants are and show you what we have and let the customer decide. We have one of the best customer service record in the state. So stop stereo typing people. (dont give a fuck if I spell shit wrong nerd). So get off and stop hating on people that make 6 figures that are half your age.

Dont die for your country make them die for theirs.

nah, I always pay cash... never had a car note in my life. only time I bought from a dealer was when this dumbass had a truck WAY underpriced, I drove down there, paid cash, and turned around and made a couple grand on it (AFTER TT&L!)

I have friends that are salesmen, I realize they're not all the same, but most are total dipfucks. I love rolling through the local Dodge dealership to see what they've got new on the lot and waiting till the salesmen/women that don't know shit about what they're trying to sell get really close to the truck and then I just drive away like I don't see them. good times.

damn dude, you're only 15?!

well, you're obviously young because that's not my pic! LOL

I'm plenty fine where I'm at now. I agree, sales is good for some, not good for others. I've only met a few car salesmen that I didn't want to stab with a fork, but I will admit that there are good ones out there.

The local Dodge house usually turns over about every month or so. My favorite was the towel head that tried the "I've got a customer looking for this exact color! I can give you a great trade in price on this!" dumbass didn't know SHIT about what he was trying to sell or what I was driving.

Honestly? I've considered buying a brand new truck because my company will pay the note on $35k before TT&L over 4yrs, but every time I go up to the dealer to romance the idea, I end up with some salesman that doesn't know shit and tries to insult my intelligence...

same shit happened when my wife bought her new Accord last year. typical salesmen tricks/techniques everwhere we looked... Then I PM'd Bones on the board, and went through a somewhat hassle free buying experience. I say "somewhat" because he had to refer us to a different dealership because he didn't have the car we were looking for. We had already hashed out a price and the fucking salesbitch at the dealer we went to was trying to pull lame ass sales gimicks on us even though we were there to close the fucking deal! "well, there's another couple at the dealership that are waiting to hear back on their credit application"

"well, if there's already someone here to buy the car then we'll just leave"

"uhh... well... I mean they were hear earlier and they're coming back tomorrow"

I had to vent my frustrations to the sales manager.

I fucking hate salesmen
