any home inspectors here?

I was looking into going to school to become a realestate home inspector. looking for some help in doing so. I was told that i could go about this a couple of ways.
1. take the classes and ace the tests. or...
2. work under a liscenced inspector, and get started that way.

any help would be very appreciated.

You can work under a licensed inspector to get some experience and also might count towards credits for classroom hours. But you still have to get your license at some point and that requires going to school. Champions school of Real Estate or Lenard Haues "sp?" or even community colleges might offer classes. Your best bet is to contact one of the schools. If you want contact info for some home inspectors let me know.

i have spoke with a rep at champions, and they dont offer financial aid. the classes i need are costing about 3200.00......i just might sell the five-ohh! but thats the sacrifice i will have to make. I was just wanting to know if anybody here was actually an inspector, so i could find out if it was really a good way to go.

I inquired about this with an experienced inspector while attending classes at Leonard Hawes Real Estate school last summer and was told that the market was pretty saturated with licensed inspectors...which makes pricing pretty competitive..and also lowers income potential in a large market like DFW. I am still wanting to do it but I am also looking more towards the appraisal end of it now.
