PAY RANGE OF $15.39 - $21.72 PER HOUR
DEPARTMENT: GENERAL SERVICES / FLEET MAINTENANCE
Duties include performing skilled, journeyman level electrical and mechanical tasks involved in the maintenance and repair of City light- and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment – troubleshooting mechanical and electrical defects; and repairing gasoline and diesel engines, brake systems (air, hydraulic and mechanical), electrical systems, motors and hydraulic systems. Duties also include completing and documenting Motor Vehicle Inspections (MVI); and performing bodywork (preparation, painting and finish work). Duties will require lifting up to 100 pounds frequently. A high school diploma or equivalent, plus some vocational training in mechanical repair work required; some college and / or ASE certification preferred. Must have two years experience in automotive service and repair, including diesel and heavy vehicle experience. Will need to provide own tools, preferably possessing necessary tools at time of hire; and have, or be able to obtain, an appropriate Texas driver’s license, MVI license and EPA refrigerant certification. Hours are normally 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. but will be scheduled for periodic after-hours on-call duty including nights, weekends and holidays.
