I have an appoinment for a FedEx position..there are two positions, a Courier, and a handler. Whats the plus and minus's of both? Anyone on here work for them? Nice thing is they offer full benefits with part time!

Handler pays 11.86 hr to strart, but you only get like 20 hours a week...which sucks. After 90 days they will pay for school and have good insurance.

Yea, i work for them. I am a Swing Courier, make $16 an hour, if you work the split shift, AM and PM then you make an extra dollar an hour. If you still havent applied yet, take the COURIER position hands down. The thing i love about this company is ive been here just about a year, started back in March 04, as a p/t handler, am now a F/T Courier making $47k, and am about to get a salaried promotion to $52,500. Cant beat that with a stick........

They pay decent depending on your route but overall the job sucked. You "supposely" own your own buisness yet they practically tell you what to do. They don't care if the route your on is run best if you do it a certian way, they want there way no matter how much it cost you. All in all don't do it, they don't care about there contractors. Theres a coupe of websites like this one

fedex

that EX contractors go to get advice on lawsuits and whatnot. That should warn you right there. Stay at FedEx Express its like a differnet company.

I work for FedEx Freight in Dallas, and have only been there full time for only 6 months. I have just became a city driver. I started at around $12/hour and now up to $17+/hour after just 6 months. Top pay will be around $21 for me within 2 years. I also have a buddy that transferred to a Road spot in Amarillo for $78000/year and he is only 24 like me. Crazy huh. FedEx is an awesome company to be a part of.

The only thing about working here is you have got to start out supplemental/part time on the dock, and once you earn full time ask to enroll in the driving program. I am sure that they would take Express drivers, but I don't think that you could hold both of them together. Locations/ I work at the Dallas location in Irving next to Lonestar Park horse track. There is another location in North Fort Worth, not sure exactly where, and I heard yesterday, that they will be building one in Garland soon.

Just ask for Tanya Baker (I think she is still up front) and tell them David Jones (city driver) sent you on your app. Hurry up, people apply all of the time. The stack is usaully pretty stout. I think that if you mention people you know that work there already you get pushed through more quickly.

David, do you have an internal email address of an ops manager or HR hiring person that I could email them from my Fedex email address to ask them a few questions? Have a few questions about Freight but didnt want to tie them up on the phone too long. Thanks

I love it, just trying to decide where to tranfser within fedex to, either going to go Ground or Freight, Freight is my first choice, ground would be second.

FedEx Freight starts around $12.75/hr. 25 hours a week to start. It took me 6 months until I got full time $16.00/hr. Now I am a city driver making $17.09/hr with benefits after just a year with the company.

yea, i love fedex, best company ive ever worked for. I make a little over $17 an hour now, fulltime, so it would be a lateral move, but my goal would to be a road driver. Just would suck going back to 12 something an hour part-time. How fast have you seen someone move from PT dock to FT city driver? Still debating whether to make the plunge or not..........

It took me 6 months to get full time ($16/hr), then I started hostling on the yard. Altogether, right at a year for me to get from $12.73/hr to $17.09/hr (city driving). Top pay is reached 2-3 years after becoming full time, so in less than 2 years, I should be at least $21.00/hr. I have seen people hired off of the streets straight onto driving. I guess they already had their CDL or they had experience. We have also had alot of guys from other carriers get hired straight onto driving.

thanks david, talked to paul today, and things look good he said. Next question, how long do you think it would take to get to a Road Driver position? Sounds like I will come over as a City Driver, take about a $20k pay cut (unless they offer OT) but hopefully it wont be long to get to Road Driver.

I work at FedEx DNE in Plano as a casual handler. Pays $11.15/hr, mon-fri. Not a bad job, and during the summer I work mornings offloading as well as Saturday, at DFW ramp and get 3 hrs of overtime 3-6 am whenever I want the extra hours. If you go to school, they pay for a certain amount each semester, as already mentioned.

6 mo for full time is great i work for ups (3yrs) and can not even have a chance at being full time for at least another 2 yr but im trying to be an a/c mech for them. to anyone who is debating ups or fedex i have this:

if you want instant benis (health vison etc takes 3mos) and just need somthin to get thru school (1 or 2 yrs) ups they will give you 1500 a semester

if you need a job for rent car payments food etc. i would go fedex

ups dosent pay very well to start and you only get a .50 a year raise now and from what i have heard about fedex they start higher and give more per year.
