Anyone work for...

Home Depot or Lowes? What is the pay like in the DFW area? What type of hours do you put in? Do you work straight days or evenings?

Also interested in talking to people work for new car dealers. I am also considering applying in that field as well. Not looking for sales in this field. More like an entry level job in the dealership. Porter, detail (make ready) or..?

I moved here not long ago and would like to find out the in and outs of both fields. Please send a PM if you would like not to post up in the public forum.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
THANKS

If you're brown you will be at make ready. If you're white you'll porter.

I am in West Fort Worth by I-30 and Loop 820. As far as the hours, do most work either day shift (off by 6) or night shift?

Thats so true! I know one service manager that started out as a porter 20 years ago, makes pretty damned good money now washing cars and getting bitched at by customers.

Okay starting Monday I plan to hit the dealerships around here trying to get a part time or full time job. I plan to apply for a "porter" but I will take just about any job but sales. What is the average pay for a porter (or other dealership jobs?) pay? I just moved here not long ago and I have no idea what the jobs pay around here. I know that most jobs pay more here than where I lived before. Also if you know of a part time or full time job around the West side of Fort Worth PLEASE let me know.

THANKS

Do you work there now? Also does anyone know if the Home Depot or Lowes stores have "spiffs" if you work in appliances? I know local dealers have "spiff" programs (paid by the manufacturer) that pay the employee to sell products.
