Freakin Expensive Paint Color!

1986 Color
Jalapena Red - Paint Code 2R
two tone with Medium Gray (any paint code for this??)

I forget who I actually called on this, but was told it would be $82.00 / pint! They said it was so expensive b/c it has just about every additive ever made - pearl, mica, metal, etc.

I need some for the engine compartment on my rebuild, but I don't really care if it reflects, transluces, or whatever the heck micas and pearls do under the hood. I'll get the exterior painted up later.

Can anybody recommend a good paint source? I'm going to spray it myself - just need the color mixed - inexpensively.

And any paint experts out there - what are all the extra additives, just out of curiousity?

Thank yew!

I didn't think jalapena red had any mica or flake in it. Mica is the material that the pearls in paint are made of. Every car I have seen that was supposed to be "jalapena red" was just a bright red. Red toners are some of the most expensive ones, maybe that was why it was so expensive but I think I'd shop around.
