Should I buy a bike or roller blades?

Running/walking is getting boring, it takes to long, and I think I can get a better workout by biking or roller blading, but I cant decide which one I should get. If I get a bike, I can go multiple times around duck creek and have some decent wind to body cool going on. I've roller bladed before and am fast and all, I also think it will be a better all body work out, I'm just leary on spending $150 on a good pair of skates.

I like biking, but a good bike IMO will cost over $500. I would get rollerblades if you actually have someplace good(level surface) to skate around on.

Show me a website with what you consider a 'good bike'

Go down to Fitness in Motion or Richardson Bike Mart.

$500 for a decent bike is minimum.

Take a ride on one of the Schwinn specials down at Target and then take a spin on a $1000 bike at FIN or Bike Mart.

When I was racing triathlons, I had over 2K invested in my Cannondale.

Difference between a Kia and BMW. My Cannondale was effortless at 30 MPH (well, relatively speaking!)

But, if you aren't riding more than 30 miles a week and aren't going to do any races, the Scwhinn is all you will need.

But, now, I probably ride 30 miles a week, never more 5 miles at a time (with the 7 yr old), I have a Schwinn special and its fine.

Here is a pic of a 2K+ frame:

Why can't a garage sale 1985 ten speed work just as well?

I want to run in one next year, and I know the bikes aint cheap. I think I'm just going to buy something decent from Oshmans or something that'll get me going before I start going long distances on a bike.

That is probably the best bet.

The other option is to watch the Dallas Morning News classifieds. There are alot of people out there that thought it would be cool to own a $1500 bike only to find out it takes work to push the pedals.

Also, alot of people that are going to the next level and want to get rid of their entry cycle.

Definitely buy one out of the paper. There are so many awesome bikes out there that have hardly been used and are now great deals! Don't buy some cheap bike. You will hate it.

I've got about $1200 invested in my road bike, I want a mountain bike for west texas type stuff and forrest action but I'd rather work on my car. I would never bring my bike down here in austin though, so I just bike 60 minutes or so each day in the gym at about 30 mph. Trying to work my way up

I got a friend that works at Richardson Bike Mart, so if you end up going for the 'spensive bikes he might be able to hook ya up.
