Protein and Glutamine Questions

I just got back from Smoothie King where I bought the Optimum Nutrition Whey Protien. The instructions say to take "1-3" servings daily. I work out 4 days a week and am mostly doing a "high rep" workout for the rest of April.

My first question is how much/often should I take in a day? I plan to take one dosage right after working out, but do I need another one in the morning? (I workout about 5:00 p.m.) What about on the days that I don't workout?

My second question is do I also need to buy some Glutamine? It says that it has 2,443mg per serving. Is that enough?

I am new to the supplement world so any help is greatly appreciated.

Protein powder is an efficient way to supplement your daily protien intake. Having one directly after a work out is a good rule of thumb, but depending on how your diet looks for the rest of the day, you may need multiple servings to get meet your daily ptrotien requirements. It's recommended to get atleast .75 gram per pound of bodyweight and I prefer around 1 gram per pound when I am gaining. Find out how much you are getting from natural source (the more the better) and add a shake or two in between meals to make up the difference.

Thanks Got Boost?. I weigh 260lb. I probably take in about 100-150g of protein a day. It looks like I should definitely take in more. It sounds like I should take this stuff 3 times a day to help me maintain a .75 ratio. But I would also like to lose some weight too (10-20lbs).

Do you know anything about Glutamine or if this is enough?

Glutamine is great for recovery as it's on of the most abundant amino acids in your muscles, but it's a bit more expensive than your run of the mill protien powders. If you've got the cash it's definitely a good addition to your post-workout shake, but it's not a wonder supplement and will do absolutely nothing without eating right.

if you weight 260 pounds you need about 300 grams of protein a day but dont take them to close together because you will just piss it all out.

Suplements are expensive have you ever tried any other "stuff" that will get you instant results.

steroids are for those who don't really want to work, if you wanted results by now you should have started working out earlier
