Protein powder is an efficient way to supplement your daily protien intake. Having one directly after a work out is a good rule of thumb, but depending on how your diet looks for the rest of the day, you may need multiple servings to get meet your daily ptrotien requirements. It's recommended to get atleast .75 gram per pound of bodyweight and I prefer around 1 gram per pound when I am gaining. Find out how much you are getting from natural source (the more the better) and add a shake or two in between meals to make up the difference.
