I made a bet today!!

Today at work/the gym, I made a bet with a younger guy, if one or both of us can gain 25 lbs of muscle by Halloween (6 1/2 months), for $50. Was $100, then $20, but then settled on $50.

So, he's 17, about 5'10" and 172-175 lbs, probaby @ 6-8 BF%.
I'm almost 28, 6'0" and 205-210 lbs, probably @ 10-12 BF%.

Yes, I know..... I'm a Trainer, but I DO enjoy eating normal food and the occasional night of heavy drinking!

Oh yeah, and NO VITAMIN S for either of us!!!!!


What do y'all think..... possible or not???

Not 25 lbs. of pure muscle. Lean body mass is unfortunately a slow process. I would guess less than 10 lbs of muscle only. Do an accurate BF test before and after to make sure that you didn't gain any fat during the 6 months making you think you gained muscle.

Vitamin S would make it possible, but we all know that shit is for losers.

well, I know with proper eating, and hard work, you CAN put on a pound of week, of LBM.... but we shall see, I guess.

And I know about all that measuring stuff, I do it every day for work! Remember, I am a Personal Trainer, not that I know it all, but I think I know a good amount! LOL

And yes, no "juice" for me. Haven't tried it yet, so I think I can hold out!!!!

Well, I am just going off of experience and averages. I have yet to see any client (some of them bodybuilders) net 1 lb. of muscle a week. I have been in the business for almost 8 years now and have yet to see that. However, if you think you can then go for it!

By the way, how have you been calculating your bodyfat percentage in the past?

netting 1 lb of muscle is possible with the right diet, right genetics and right workout.

Of course, you are attempting to net .8-.9 lbs of lean tissue consistently over the next 6 1/2 months.

It won't be easy, you'll need to be very clean in your eating, never plateau during training and of course have the genetics to support it.

He's unfortunately got the physical edge in that he's a little younger and is probably gonna produce a little more natural testosterone. Then again you've got the experience to make sure all the other factors like diet, intensity, and rest are 100 percent. He could be physically primed to build that muscle, but without the proper stimulus and nutrition it's not gonna happen. I'd say that the winner will be whoever adhears to the better program and cheats the least.

Yeah, honestly I don't see myself achieving this goal...

I think with the hard work we are all talking about, i.e. diet, training, diet, the right supps, diet, etc., it is possible. But I don't see myself NOT cheating too much over the next 6 1/2 monhts.. LOL If I do seriously try to attain this goal, you will see me in a bodybuilding contest before year's end! That's how serious I would have to take this, personally. I've been lifting weights, seriously, for longer than you've been in the business, but only been a PT for the most part of the last year.

To answer your last question, I've done a couple ways. I have a guy at work that does the 4 Site Pinch test usually. I have had a couple other people do the 4 Site and the 7 Site Pinch test, and I also have a Tanita Athletic 2 Person scale at home, that I jump on every once in a while, for comparison reasons.

This is supposed to be funny..... at least it is to me!! LOL The kid has been accused of "roids", and has the stretch marks near the arm pits, but that doesn't really mean he's on Vitamin S... but it's always questionable. Of course, people I work with have accused me of it, too, at least in the past! But, NO!

i took some "stuff" that gained me about 30 pounds in 10 weeks so yes it is posible in 6 months.

30 pounds of what? It was not 30lbs of muscle if you are doing it naturally. I thought that is what the subject was?

sorry never said it was leagal, maby you should try 300 grams of potein a day and only eat lean foods to help uild body mass and weight.

25 pounds muscle, 5 pound fat,

Before stuff BENCH PRESS= 295
10 weeks later = 380

Fuck the leagal stuff tried it all and for the same amount of money you can get real big real quick, who cares if its not leagal just dont get caught.

I can only do 275 about 10 to 12 times now but 20 would be nice.

295 is a pussy bench press i just was working out in my garage and i just pressed all of the weight i had 390 That is one of my first gains since i have been off. Dam looks like i will have to buy some more weights.
