Question One or Two day rest?

I have been doing a high-rep workout for about 2 weeks. I am doing arms and chest on one day and shoulders and back on another. Usually I try to give each group a two day rest, but I am not even sore from my workout yesterday, even though I worked hard. Should I continue to give it a 2 day rest, or should I work that muscle group again tomorrow after just 1 day off?

I did some heavier , lower rep workouts a while back doing the entire body each time and resting one day between and 2 days ont he weekend. It seemed to do great but the monday workouts seemed to be better, so based on that I would wait 2 days. IF you are not sore that doesn't mean you didn't do any good though, but you could always raise the weight next time and see if that helps you get more soreness.

Unlessyou are doing near full body workouts it's pretty difficult to get less than a couple days rest. I've used a couple programs that work pretty well and work each muscle once a week allowing for plenty of rest.

On one plan I'll go 2 on, 1 off, 2 on, 2 off:

Mon - Chest 7 traps
Tue - Lats/Back/Bi's
Wed - off
Thur - Shoulders/Tri's
Fri - Legs
Sat - off
Sun - off

Recently in an effort to get a little more rest between workouts I've been going every other day. Given the even number of workouts each bodypart will have to alternate the day it worked on every other week:

Mon - Chest 7 traps
Tue - off
Wed - Lats/Back/Bi's
Thur - off
Fri - Shoulders/Tri's
Sat - off
Sun - Legs
Mon -off
Tue - Chest 7 traps
Wed - off
Thur - Lats/Back/Bi's
Fri - off
Sat - Shoulders/Tri's
Sun - off
Mon - Legs

Figure out what works better for your schedule and give it a shot.
