Creatine questions

I have not taken Creatine before adn I am wanting to go ahead and try it out.

I thought that 5 grams a day was the recommended amount but was reading about the Cell-Tech and they are talking 10 grams. Isn't that more than necessary?

Also, was talking to some people that suggested splitting the daily amount in half and taking half when you wake up adn the other half either after wourkout in the evening or 12 hours after the initial one. Does that sound right or wrong? Any benefit to splitting it up like that? When would be the best schedule to take Creatine?

Another thing, There are the ones that are straight Creatine Monohydrate powder and then there are the others that have other stuff in with it like potassium, etc... I assume those are better? The Cell-Tech claims to be better than regular creatine but it is pricy. Anyone have opinions on all this? I'd like to go grab some bu I don't want to get screwed over by hype or get something I shouldn't.

Thanks
Todd

ok, after reading a lot of info it looks like the recommended daily amount fro maintenence is like 5 - 15 grams a day. I am still confused as to whether it is better to split tha tup into a morning and evening or just do it all at once. It did look like lots of people do take 5g of it immediately after workout along with Dextrose and their whey protein. I also read that gatorade is a good substitute for the dextrose so you can use that to help force it into the cells better.

Still wondering about the dosage which I read some where that a person under 195lbs should use about 5-7g daily. What is everyone here using daily?

Also the time to take it. Some say first thing in the morning, some say before workout and some say after workout and some say split it up into 2 parts and spread them out by 12 hours.

I did learn that taking it with milk is bad because it slows down absorption because the Lactose in milk is not as good for spiking Glucose as the dextrose. And not to use OJ or more acidic juices because the acid does not do well with the creatine.

One thing they did say was that for an after workout shake it is good to mix whey powder(enough for 30 - 50 protein grams) , 1 or 2 scoops of gatorade powder mix(or the same grams of dextrose as the amount of protein), 5 - 10 grams of creatine and water. It said to use the vanilla whey and the orange gatorade and it tastes like an orange popsicle - Yummy! We'll see tomorrow night!

When I was taking it, I always split the dosage in half, once serving before my workout, and one after. On the loading phase I'd take it then as well as once in the morning and once before bed.
