Your abs respond better to higher rep schemes, but as with any program, variety is key. I personally shoot for sets of 30 on any given ab exercise as I am on a dieting phase, but when bulking time comes around I'll throw in a low rep set or three. Abs also like to be worked more often than other muscles (calves as well), so I alternate them every other day.
