I've laid off a week and a half.....

...actually I was inbetween memberships.

So anyway, I'm back with Ballys but, on a pay at the gym type payment setup. Those clowns can stay out of my account!

NEway.

The last chest routine I did was [email protected] sets of 5 reps w/ 2min rest between sets. Last week I wanted to try for a 1RM but, like I said i didn't work out last week.

Should I go for the 1RM hoping that my muscles enjoyed the time off or do my 225 5/5 again to get used to the weight?

I go for my 1RM by starting off with 235 for 1 rep. Rest and add 10lbs. Repeat till I can't push the weight up.

I'd say go for it, as the time off has given your chest time to fully recuperate and be at 100%. Any longer than two weeks away and I'd suggest a week or two back in the gym before maxing.

However 245 seemsd a bit low to start with, I'd try to get a bit closer to your 1RM max so that fatigue doesn't play a part and lower your numbers. Drop 20lbs from your last max and go up from there.

I think you could've pushed up 300 with a trusted spot if you went to straight that after a set of 135 for a warm up.
