Creatine ???'s

Guys, need your help with some questions that I have.

I've started lifting again and bought some creatine the other day but I don't want to use it until I know how to take it.

#1 Do you take it before or after workouts (bottle doesn't say)

#2 Label says that there is a loading phase of 5 days that I should take 3-4 servings each day then cut back to 1-2 servings daily. Should I do the loading phase or just start at 1-2 servings?

#3 with food or without?

#4 liquid intake, how much/ just water?

I weigh about 175 lbs. and was wondering if any of you guys have this down to a science and know the exact amounts to take depending on body weight.

If you have any questions or comments please help me out.

ok, a few things about creatine...

1. I hope you're getting it online... has a good deal on creatine... it's good stuff at a good price... if it's affordable, you can take it the right way...

2. your body can only absorb so much creatine, so you can't take too much of it... the only thing taking more than your body can absorb will do is tax your kidneys a little and you'll piss the excess out...

3. when taking creatine, be sure to drink a SHITLOAD of water... I try to drink 2gal a day or more... this is good practice anyway!

4. when loading I take 5 teaspoons a day... with one being before my workout and one after... usually mix it with gatoraide...

5. after 4-5 days, I take it three times a day... with one being before and one being after... usually with gatoraide... DEFINATEY with gatoraide after workout (blood sugar is low, insulin spikes and body needs sugar, etc.)

do I take more than my body can use? sure... do I take LESS than my body can use? NO!!!! the shit WORKS and I'm not quite ready to get on "the program", so I try to make the most of it... drink a boatload of water and get some cranberry juice in there to help out the kidneys, and you'll have NOTHING to worry about... a coke is probably worse for you!!!

but, you gotta drink a lot of water! (this holds true for any successful workout regimine actually!)

oh yeah, I generally cycle it 4-6 weeks on 4 weeks off.

I prefer the sublingual type as there's no need to carry around grapejuice, gatorade, etc. If you've already got the powder certainly make the best of it by taking it with a simple sugar, as water isn't effective in creating the insulin spike necessary to get the creatine properly into your system. In a pinch taking it with water will do, but try to keep a fruit juice or sports drink on hand.

the powder is so much cheaper... that's why I prefer it... I think it's like $35 for 1,000g!
