Start light in the gym and get as close to perfect form as you can. This will give your joints some time to strengthen and get accustomed to the new found stresses of the gym. Like your muscles, your joints need time to strengthen, so don't go hard and heavy right off the bat, you'll hurt something. Patience and slow progress is the key.
