Creatine, Good or bad?

Does creatine have any bad side effects like ephedrine or l. carnitine?

Also, what are it's perks?

Thanks
Shawn

this is just my opinion, creatine helps the muscles recover by hydrating the muscles, ephedirine helps increase your body temperature and shed water weight.

The only "side effect" I've ever experienced from creatine is it's propencity to cause water retention, which makes you get a little flat while on it. It's a good way to add a little strength, but keep in mind that most of it goes away once you cycle off of it. It can be a great motivator though, and does help with muscle reparation. In other words, take it with the long term effects in mind, not the temporary size and strength.

Thumbs down

I took creatine on accident, I was taking the wrong pills. I gained 20lbs, from 170 to 190, that was a year ago, and I am still working it off ( I basically just skate and work on the car for workouts. )

If you are talking of 20 lbs of "bad" weight, you didn't get it from the creatine. Creatine causes the muscles to store more water and phospocreatine (to produce more ATP) which can cause an increase in your weight, but it has nothing to do with storage of body-fat. Most of the water-weight gained while on creatine will subside once you stop taking it. Sounds to me like you were eating a bit too much...

Playahata - What brand of creatine do you like best? Once I start working out I will use the creatine just like you said, as great motivation....

I was just curious what you guys think of females taking Creatine? Will it make a female bulk up too much? I'm not looking to have huge muscles that make me look masculine, but gain some more muscle mass just about all over my body.

I haven't grown in years and I'm pretty sure I won't , but thanks for answering my question about females taking creatine.

I wouldn't reccomend it Ashley. I don't think it would cause you harm perse, but there's no need for it in a program like yours. I understand that you want a little more muscle, but you are trying to tighten it all up as well, so there's no need for the extra water-weight or strength resulting from creatine.
