The only "side effect" I've ever experienced from creatine is it's propencity to cause water retention, which makes you get a little flat while on it. It's a good way to add a little strength, but keep in mind that most of it goes away once you cycle off of it. It can be a great motivator though, and does help with muscle reparation. In other words, take it with the long term effects in mind, not the temporary size and strength.
