Received my blue belt in bjj today. Glad I was given the belt and have enjoyed the journey so far and ready to continue to learn.

I didnt have a booth, but i was walking around.

Lockout sponsors a young friend of mine Ryan Benoit, and up and coming...

I've been going with him to Saekson Muay Thai for stand up and Fullers Jiu jitsu for ground. He goes to another Jiu Jitsu place but i havent been to that one yet. It's called Mohlers i think.

Saeksons is no joke and neither is mohlers for the ground game.

Alot of people will never realize what it is to earn rank in BJJ because they don't stick it out. The hard work and dedication it takes to spend countless hours on the mat making the smallest details reflex rather than just memorized technique. White to blue is one of the hardest hurdles to overcome in BJJ. Getting into shape, learning the basics while training against a bunch of guys who already know what you are trying to get.

It's not easy, it's not for everyone and that is what makes it great. If it was easy, they would call it Tae Kwon Do.

Congrats on a job well done sir.

It's actually 8 mins of the upper ranks coming at you 100%. Fresh guy every 1-2 mins and you try to survive as best you can. We don't do the belt whipping thing.

Ah ok. We do "randori" as well. It's rough for sure. The time varies depending how evil Shannon is feeling. The last promotion class had five minute rounds and he did it BEFORE class had started so everyone was really fresh! Eeek!

I took my test yesterday, I was fucking exhausted afterwards. Now it's a waiting game this week until I get my results back from Rorion and Rener. It's going to be a LONG week of waiting. Shannon told me I passed, but it's the Gracie certification thats tough to get.

I'm sore as hell, but I'm looking forward to my randori and moving on to the next chapter and really picking up some serious technique in my game.

You don't train in one place long enough to earn a rank or get any real experience. Until you do, your game will continue to be as fragmented as your training periods.

My fragmented game is getting better, and it has served me pretty well. There have been more than a few higher ranked guys that didn't smash me like they thought they would.

Respectfully, it's due to your size and tremendous strength advantage and not your technique. (as of yet cuz that will change in time)

It's funny how that happens. I get the upper and lower ranks gunning for me all the time. No one seems to accept the fact I was a white belt and "sandbagging" in a way since I had some previous experience. But as I have gotten better the upper belts have taken notice and really come after me hard. There is only a handful of guys now at my school who can tap me on a regular basis now.

I guess nobody saw my joke LOL.

I can see that. Never really got into BJJ but i did stand up for two years and was not like that at all. It was more the other way around for me. Guys flirting with me and not taking me seriously.

It's tricky training with girls. If we go too hard, we're bullies. Too light and we're patronizing. Then we have to add in the factor of attitude, why is she there? Is she serious about training or this just some cool alternative to Tae Bo?

The girls eventually weed themselves out. We've got one cool girl practioner that we treat like one of the guys. She's a brown belt and works hard on her technique. Everyone really enjoys having her around. But we have other girls who at times can be nothing more than just someone taking up mat space. They practice a technique a couple of times then stand around chatting. I'll help coach them along with the rest of the white belts, but I pay attention to how they respond to it. If they seem genuinely trying to get it, then I will continue to help. But if they half ass it, I don't bother with them anymore cuz I know they will not be there long and will eventually quit.

A girls attitude dictates everything on how she is treated in any gym.

Is her name Gizelle? Might be spelling that wrong.

Yeah everytime a girl joined they normally did not last more than a month. I really wish i could find the time to get back into it, but right now my life is hectic. For the owner of the gym thats easy money considering they probably signed a contract.

I can see that. Never really got into BJJ but i did stand up for two years and was not like that at all. It was more the other way around for me. Guys flirting with me and not taking me seriously.
i saw it, but it was so mean spirited i wouldn't even justify it with an answer.

i'll train some stand up with you. just so i can punch you in the mouth without catching a charge.
