I had an epiphany!

I've been a new member of 24 Hour Fitness for less than a week, and have been to 3 different gyms in that time.

Yesterday I was at the one in Lewisville while my son was in an acting class.

As I looked around the free weight room, it hit me that it's just like the other ones I've recently been to.

And then it hit me.

"24 Hour Fitness" in the ancient Latin language must translate to "don't bother racking your weights when you are done".

I swear I had to strip shit off of every fucking rack that I used. And since when do people need to use anything under a quarter when doing legs? If you have to put a 5'er on the leg press, you're wasting your time. When I took over the machine, I had to take a 5, 10, and a 25 off to get to the only 45 lb plate to start off with.

Come on people, if you finish with a machine, rack your shit! I guess some people are strong enough to load it, but not strong enough to unload it.

Rant off...

I guess gym etiquette died in the 90's....

The one in Plano isn't too bad, but there are a coule lazy people. Out here in SD is a whole other story though. Half the dumbell rack stays on the floor, and guys will leave their weights on a bar/machine even if you've made it clear that you're there waiting on them to finish. I do a light warm-up set for every exercise I do, and more than once I've had to ask a guy to come back (as he's walking away) and un-rack his shit.

I left Gold's in Plano last week and joined 24hr. I've been going to the 24hr in Frisco and I haven't had any problems but the weight racks in the Gold's were always loaded up with nobody around.

Im at the 24 in Mansfield and its the same. annoying as hell, and im with you on why the hell would somebody use 5pnds on the press machines.! it also seems to me that some of the plate racks are always empty but there will be one that is loaded to the max with weights all around the floor beside it.

You will usually find me at the same 24hour in Mansfield, but my youngest son had a summer acting class up in Lewisville. There's now way in hell I'm sitting around for 3 hours with a bunch of moms, so I just went to the gym.

If you ever hear some old fucker complaining about people leaving their mess, feel free to walk up and introduce yourself.

Also love when people are putting dumbbells in the wrong spots. Is it that freaking hard to put them back?

People aren't as bad at putting dumbells back as they are about plates.

Hell, there are endcaps saying what weight goes on what peg and most of the dumbasses at the gym can't figure it out.... DUH!!!

I go to the LA Fitness in Highland Village and I never have that problem. Everyone there is very respectful towards equipment. The place is very clean and people have enough common sense to wipe off the equipment when they are done.

I love the gym I'm at currently here in New Mexico. Fire/Police/Security for Los Alamos all do training here and everyone racks the weights. Hell I've seen people get yelled at for not racking correctly, it's great

All of these problems are caused by the fact that we're in 'health' and 'wellness' centers, instead of GYMS. Oh, how I long for a concrete floor, with more squat racks than machines, and DBs higher than 125.

the 24 hour by my house has DBs up to 150, and I'm pretty sure they're are at least 3 people there everyday who use at least the 130's.

Dude, you've got the Garden of Eden 24hr, I think. I can only remember 1 chain gym I've been in that had anything >130.

24hr off I-35 and Meachim(spell check) have 150's.

No need, as not many people can do >125's properly.

If more people would do things like farmer's walks, DB DLs and heavy snatches, the world would be a better place.
