Gym guru(s).. I need some advice..

So I've been going to the gym steadily for a little over a month, maybe two months now. I have been slacking for the past two weeks, only been going to the gym maybe 3 days a week instead of 5 days. Anyways, I know results don't happen over night or over only a couple weeks BUT my question is.. What are some things I can do at the gym( I go to 24hr fitness so there are a lot of machines) to help define my abs.. I have noticed some changes in other areas but I can't seem to "get my abs back." I also have a pudge(not a big one but it's there), it's hard underneath-like my abs are building but I've yet to lose it...

This is very irritating because I used to not have to worry about my stomach area, it was always the first area to show "results.." so if anyone has any advice or tips please let me know!!

Here's a couple crappy cell phone pics....

I would like to look like this.. or maybe a little more muscular

Definition comes through diet and cardio. Some ideas to research would be eating less simple sugar, lowering your sodium to under the RDA, lowering your overall carb intake, and doing frequent cardio, either on a machine or resting very little between sets of lifting weights in order to keep your heart rate elevated.

i'm having the same predicament. i'm not a big guy, the fat i do have is on my belly. it's getting better though. i lift weights 5 days a week at 24hr. every other day i switch between 30 min cardio and the p90x ab ripper video after my weight training. you dont have to run to do cardio (i hate running). i usually power walk on an incline or do the row machine. i also try and watch what i eat. usually i eat grilled chicken, steak, or a few turkey sandwhiches with some baked lays.

I work abs twice a week for about 30 mins each time. Everyone has abs, you just need to get body fat down to see them. Cardio, cardio, and cardio untill you are happy then maintain. Cut your carbs ALOT too and you will lean out fast but lose energy as well so try and find a happy balance. I'm doing alittle less then 100g of carbs a day but I'm also 6'3 215 lbs @ 12.8 body fat.
Get your fat measured next time you go to 24hr they do it for free.

You might possibly be surprised at the amount of carbs you eat. If you haven't used thedailyplate.com, it's a good resource for tallying your macronutrients. It even has fast food places. FunFordCobra has a great limit at 100g of carbs for a man. You might be able to get away with 50-75g, depending on how woozy it makes you feel. I didn't feel it mentally until I got below 30g per day, but it's different for each person.

Few people have your metabolism, and I'd be willing to bet that you had abs even when you were skinny.

For the rest of us? Abs = cardio/diet
