Protein Bars

I need to be eating more protein. I was thinking of having a protein bar for one of my smaller meals during the day. When do you suggest eating one? What about inbetween breakfast and lunch? Or would it be best to eat one right after your workout? I really can't eat something that doesn't taste good. What brand do you recommend that actually tastes good and is not high in carbs? Aaron, does that store near your gym have good prices? Thanks for your help guys.

This thread might help add...a little input

Ive strayed a bit from the bars and try to stick with natural sources ofprotein when macronutrients necessitate. But I understand there isnt always is so fast paced.

Typically, I have protein drinks/shakes in the evening after workouts and I find them far more tolerable and satisfying than any bar. I find that I absorb the drinks better than any of the bars, but thats just me. Im sure others have plenty of helpful input as well.

Good Luck to ya

Met-RX bars are the highest in protein that I've seen. There are 2 different grades, one of which is high in protein. Used to be 34g, now they are 32g and supposedly low carb. They don't taste too bad, but not that great either.

Just remember that with taste comes extra fat, sugars, and calories. I have yet to come across a bar with low carbs and fat that tasted good. There are plenty that are palatable, but the good tasting ones get that way through sugar (or sugar substitute) and or fat.

Fitness Essentials has great prices and if you go there alot and make friends with the owner/employees, they'll knock off an extra couple percent.

the zero carb bars are really good the peanut butter/ chocalate bars...the only bad thing is that it has 8grams of fat and 38-32 grams of protien.

I'm going to try to do a little shopping for lunch and get some bars. Unless I can find some with more protein, I'll stick to Met-Rx.
