New running shoes

Got some new running shoes for my birthday, the Vibram five finger KSO. Went for a nice long run tonight, felt great.

For some reason, those creep me out.

Btw, I need the contact info for your fire sprinkler install guy. It's time to get a quote.

those look like really good foot gloves but I would think that those wouldn't help much for someone who's foot supinates or overpronates.

cool though.

I went to lukes in dallas. Very nice people with good knowledge of the product. I paid about 10 bucks more then I would have online. I figured that it would be best to try this shoe on first though, boy was I right.

It's been discussed before, but I'll say it again:

If you can't run barefoot or in VFFs without pain (other than having soft skin on your feet) then you should spend more time and effort on HOW you run, than what you run in.

I've had these shoes for over a year now, while they're great for short distance I wouldn't do any long distance running in them.Either way i love them they get all sorts of looks/compliments

Why no long distance? What do you consider long distance? Do they make these in size 15's locally?

Thanks

Grant, they only pose problems for runners who heel strike heavily. And they aren't done in traditional sizes, they're are a much more specific fit, measured in inches. It's suggested you try on the shoes in person to ensure perfect fit.

its more of a function of them sliding around and creating hot spots for me.i'm not much for running long distance I much prefer cycling

I have been looking for something like this! I was telling my wife a few weeks ago that I wished that someone would invent a "running sock" type of shoe.

I have gone so far as to run barefoot on a treadmill but the belt gets so hot that after about 15 minutes that I have to pause to put some shoes on.

Yup, sure can. Some have rubber extending over the tip of the toe for protection.

I wore my KSO's literally all weekend long, I like them so much I ordered a pair of the KSO Trek's today. I'm hoping these are 'dressy' enough I can wear them everyday to work

I got those a few months ago, they are the best for weights when going heavy, I feel much more secure in those since I'm virtually flat footed.

I wouldn't say so. When you get into crouching positions where the toes bend, the fitting on the toes shifts.

are the KSO Trek's the only ones with a sole ( eva 4mm) ?
man that would be the bomb if it were just a hair thicker like 6 -8 mm.
4mm seems like nothing once you put like 100 miles on them
seems like they would be destroyed pronto
and I only run like 6- 9 miles a week... nothing special

They are much harder rubber than you find on normal shoe soles, mine seem to be holding up just fine so far.

are you talking about the bottom or the eva part?
i wasn't worried about the bottom, more the eva padding going flat

to help clarify

Ah, gotcha. The whole idea behind shoes like the VFFs is to eliminate padding and corrections to allow feet to operate how they were meant to operate. More padding would defeat the idea behind the VFFs.
