Uneven lats - HELP!

My lats are not even close to being even and it bugs me beyond belief. When I was younger I did a lot of carpet installing which had me hammering all day and lifting 60lbs rolls of pad on my right shoulder.

I need help in trying to get them to even out. My lats are still uneven after my last attempt in working out for several months, but I really didn't try fixing the problem instead, just thought it would even out.

Now as far as muscle tone and looks both sides are pretty close but my left could use some help.

Now what im afraid of is having one side a lot more cut and defined than the other when trying to make them comparable in size since they are already pretty close.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

TIA

Hahaha @ the replies so far.

Mine are uneven too and purely from working out. The right side is bigger than the left side. But my left bicep is a little bigger than my right. It's weird.

As long as you are going heavy with DBs and doing the same amount of reps per side, it should "catch up". I say "catch up" because symmetry is one of the hardest parts of bodybuilding. One side will always be slightly, if even microscopically larger than the other. Just don't skimp on the reps for the weak side, if possible go slightly heavier.

Also, on any oone-armed exercise such as rows, start with the weak side first. Train to failure, and then match the number of reps on the other side. Most of the other exercises like latpull downs (wide and close) and seated row are two-handed, so it'll just take a little time and patience to grow that lagging side.

One lat muscle isn't going to be more or less muscular or defined as opposed to the other, the body doesn't really work like that. Follow the tips that everyone else gave (except using a heavier dumb bell on the weaker side) and you'll be fine, everything roughly evens out if you stick with it...

I'm left handed and my left side is dominant (read: stronger and larger).

I've been doing a little more with my right (weak) side for 20 years and have not caught up.

Just the opposite with my lower body. My right leg is stronger and larger than my left.

It's natural. unless you're a pro bodybuilder that focuses on even symmetry, it's nothing to worry about. You probably notice it more than everyone else.

Yes it does, try breaking an arm or leg, and compare the two in three months. I haven't actually measured, but I would venture to guess that my left calf is more than an inch smaller than my right, and I don't even wanna think about the quads.

I'm sure it is when you call attention to it. But believe me, its natural.

I broke my right ankle in 3 places in 1997. After having a rod and screws put in, and wearing a cast for 6-8 weeks, then a Darth Vader boot, my right calf looked like a circus freak. It was basically just a shin bone. You could barely make out any calf muscle because of the atrophy.

But within 6-8 months of working out, it all came back.

Sorry, meant to stress more about definition/fat storage, i.e., one side of the body isn't going to store any noticable amount of fat versus the other...

Here is a picture but it doesn't really show what I want it to show. It is the visual left (with the camera) that is larger. I will try finding another picture that shows how offset my back is.

Did you have someone take a picture of your back... in a mirror?

Why not just turn around?
