Cardio

So what's better to do 1st? Lifting weights or cardio? Lately I've been doing cardio 1st and weights 2nd but I wondered if it really matters.

I like to lift then do cardio afterwards for 15 -20 mins.

Split my cardio on my off days. 45mins 2x a week

I feel a lot better if I hit the weights first, then do cardio , use all your energy on the iron first.

Thanks, make sense.. I tried it out doing cardio after my workout and I like it much better.. I think Im gonna do a little cardio (15 - 20 mins) and then do about 45mins of cardio durinig my off days. Need to drop some LBS and I aint gonna stop drinking beer.. So I guess I'll step up the cardio...

If you do cardio first, you won't be getting as much out of your weight workout. If you do weights first, you will get the same if not better cardio workout afterwards (given you might not be as fast).

I usually do cardio first. I am not concerned about lifting the most weight possible. Plus I am usually toast after weights, and won't do cardio.

When I do cardio, I do it afterwards (as well as abs).

Physiology be damned, my rationale is pretty simple...

If I'm doing both on the same day, then odds are it's a weekday and its the evening.

I do cardio first while it's still light outside, then I'll head to the gym as the sun goes down.

If I try to go straight to the weights, then I have to go light until my heartrate goes up. Seeing as I can quickly get bored (distracted) and find something else to do, I'll never skip cardio before weights.
You should never go straight to the weights, always warm up. I will hop on the treadmill for 5 minutes before I lift, but I don't consider that cardio.

I don't do weights nearly as much as I should, so my cardio will always take priority

I heard it was better to do Cardio after you lift.

I do Cardio for an hour, and do weights every other day.

This is exactly what I do, just to get the bpm up, blood flowing, and muscles warm. Then hit the weights.

I only manage to lift once every two weeks or so, but when I do I always do cardio first. Going out and running 3 miles a day takes a helluvalot less effort and time than lifting does.

I like to run in the morning... Work... then go hit the gym at around six p.m. for 2 to 2 1/2 hours lifting.. then get home and run six miles... So I guess i like the lifting first then cardio..

I usually warm up for 5 minutes walk/cycle. Then stretch, run 4-5 miles and a light workout. But I am trying to get in shape and not trying to be a bodybuilder. I try to run on one day work out the other and alternate. I incorporate core stretches due to me having a bad back and that has really helped me out.

If you are trying to increase strength and/or size then def do the lifting first as you will have more energy to put towards your lifting. Otherwise, it's a personal preference
