Exclamation 100lb dumb bell bench competition

Since we saw the vid of ScottsMach03 doing 100lb dumbell presses I have decided I wanted to see if we could get a little internet competition going on here. Nice job BTW to ScottsMach03 .SO lets see it. Most clean rep 100lb flat bench press . I know Grayhorse is going to be postin up some duct tape reps of 150 or something but since All I got right now is 100lbs and no tape, that's where it is for the moment. Take the vids and post away. If you want to make it legit use a sheet of paper with your username from DFWS in the video.

Before I see post from the keyboard warriors, post up a vid and let it do the talking.

Last time that I tried anything of the sort, I repped 80's for a set of 50 and I'm definately not a high repper.
Post up people's results...I'm curious, but then again, I could careless.
I figure 35-40reps should win this comp.

My thoughts as well...

And I'm no where near WLs strength level. We could do this NFL style and see how many times we can rep 225. I know I wouldnt win but it'd be cool to see how well some of the heavy hitters on this site do against the pro's.

Well I was playing around today and got the 85's for 20...(not to failure) more of a warm up. 95's 15 (still not failure ) and 100's for 15 . I think with a small warm up I could get it around 18-20...maybe a few more with the camera going . Ill try and get a video up.Quality will not be that great because it will be from my blackberry.

Another thought is breaking it into weight classes. Over 200lbs and under 200lbs....just a thought, I see it as more of bragging rights but we all know how serious it gets around here.

I have done this type of competition before, I fall into the (DB, WR) (if we are going to get down to the true breakdown). Honestly most of the DB WR QB etc. cant put up 225 more than 15 times or so and those are the "strong" ones. So if you can get in the 20 rep range you would blow these guys out of the water and impress the people at the combine.

How 'bout we military press 100's???

I know I can do 90's for 6, and that's not with a spotter.

Give them 100lb db curls a swing or two and please get it on film!

I military anywhere from 285-315lbs on the Pu$$y a$$ smith machine for 6-8.
Then again, I do parallel reps and it just depends on my mood.
I stay away from dumbbells without a spotter, been there...
dropped a 120lb dumbbell behind the head before!

i dont like the smith for military.. it seems to limit the movement with the bar and put the shoulder in a bad position. I prefer free barbell seated military..that way i can move the bar a little to keep it in a good range for my shoulder..personal prefference i guess

I did the 90's for 6 military today. I was going to grab the 100's, but decided that's too damn heavy.

I repped 4 sets of 8 strict reps with 245lbs under the straight bar free-weight military press last night without a spot. Hardly impressive by DFWStangs standards, but I have yet to see anyone other than Whitelightning press more for reps. Then again, we are talking about 24-Hour Fitness, not muscle beach.

Congrats, that is very good weight for someone natural, especially for your size.
Shoulders aren't my biggest/strongest muscle group...far from it.
Now if we are talking about back...different story.
I believe I could push the free weight, but stabilizing it might be something I would definately have to get used to.

Stature size and strength wise...I would say...I'm probably a mix between you and the gorilla(WL), lol.

<<< bows to the Raven....

My ex partner could do 225 for 8. I've never seen anyone duplicate that in person.

Closest I've gotten is 205 for 6-8.

Most I have ever seen pressed is...

315 free weight pressed for sets of 10...granted everyone I have seen do this had juice running out their ears though!
I have seen a winstrol'ed out buddy of mine put up the same weight as me on the smith though(he was 188lbs too!!!)
315 repping it on the smith...give it a try Raven, I would like to know how you compare.

Shoot

If I were in shape again I would .... LOL! You guys are getting the fire going again!

I used to use 150's on the incline for 4-5 sets of 8-10 Reps.

See my personal site for competition pics.... www.BrandonDaniels.com

That was my first show...Was about 171 LBS in those pics. I am 5"6. Got up to 240 and was training for the nationals (going for pro card) when I went into Heart Failure. (better now).

Question Uh

Ummm....yeah. Anybody who makes it the national level and says they are "natural" are generally full of shit. I learned a lot about poltics and sports in that point of my life. I know a lot of the inside stuff. Pretty interesting experience to say the least. Also learned a lot about Work Ethic...committment...and drive.

Funny thing is...they don't think that helped matters when I went into heart failure. Hauling around 240 LBS of muscle on a 5"6 frame can stress things out. The main cause was ephidrene use.

Used to train with some of the best in the world. John Defendis is one of my best friends and taught about everything I know. www.Defendis.com

I was real old school....50-100 Sets a party part.

Still

Still big bro! That would put you either tipping light heavy class or edge of heavyweight.

That is no joke at 5'7.

When I was 240 offseason I would have weighed in at mid to high 190's at 5"6. When you are 3% at that point not a bad start. I have really small waist..and joints..and bigger muscle bellies so most people thought I weighed about 20 LBS more. First time I competed in middle weight class ..others in my class were trying to get me out of the class because they thought I was light heavy. LMAO!

Just keep training hard and focus on your goals and outcomes! Set a date...go all out...you will blow through it!

A heart attack and 10yrs of not being in the gym(as I noticed those pics were from 1998) is simply not worth it.
I see juicers get big and lose everything they worked soooo hard for time and time again.

Yeah...you have to watch out. Can get out of hand quick! The heart failure was do more to ephidrine then anything else. Basically....paced my heart into failure.

In those pics I had only been working out a total of 2yrs. Have some other pics around here somewhere where is was around 212 lean. Never got pics when I was 240 because you always think you will be ..bigger..and better. Then..boom...was out.

I am back to normal now. I am married with 3 young children now. If I would have kept living that lifestyle I would be divorced. I am grateful it happened actually.

I never do flat dumbell press but I'll see how many I can crank up tonight. I figure I got about 12 reps in me.

So if you can get in the 20 rep range you would blow these guys out of the water and impress the people at the combine.

Flat barbell 225 for 19 reps is my personal best. I've never been able to sqeak out 20, but then again, the flat bench isn't my forte.

I can reverse grip 225 for at least 12. Next time I do triceps I'll have to see how many I can do.

I can do 225 for about 14-15, and my bench press is only low 300's. Not sure how hard it would be to get 20 reps, but I'll try and work up to it just to see If i can within the next few months.

I'm probably low 300's as well now. My best is only 365x1. I suck at bench.

Jesus. I go to the gym and they got 1 95 lb. and 1 100 lb. No 105s. Set of 90s too. Being a real man I grab the 110s.

Holy shit, I got no stabilizer muscles! I can rep 225 on flat bench all damn day but with dumbbells I got no control at all, especially in the midrange. I managed to eek out two sets of six reps each. Damn near smashed my face in too. My chest feels like I didn't do much but my shoulders sure do feel it.

Think I'll work these into my routine over the next few weeks and see what happens with the reps.

Don't feel bad Al, My gym has 80s, 90s, 100s, 110s, 115s, 125s, 150s.

I'd like to use 95s on military press, but I'll have to stick with the 90s.

We need some vids of these lifts still everyone talking, no vids.....My personal best is 405x1 raw and I was weighing in at about 203lbs. I really haven't done a MAX 225 rep but I would say somewhere around 20x right now because my first set on bench is 255 for 15 then 275 for 10 then 305 for whatever my body allows. I did do 275x14 times on saturday. I also am weighing a pretty pudgy 215. I honestly will try a vid tomorrow morning . I am shooting for 100lbers for about 20 reps hopefully I get half that just to save face.

Different ball game with dumbells. It takes alot of control. I dont do barbell on anything, all I do is dumbbells. Work them in your routine and you will get the feel for it in no time.

Oh yea, I have done them in my routine before but never really anything over ~100 lbs. The difference is just very big at higher weights.

well there was no way for me to get the video because there was no one there. I did a chest/shoulder work out today.

Incline Barbell few warm up sets then 225x16 245x10 255x9

DB shoulder press 65'sx20 85'sx15 95'sx9

lateral/front alt raises 4x12 with 10's

single arm tricep pressdowns 3x20 50lbs on cable machine

Seated dip hammer strength 285 x 20 for 3 sets

Flat bench db 80'sx25 90'sx20 100'sx15

So I got 100 for 15 on the db bench at the very end of my work out.

All excercise are done with no spot so that makes them slightly harder for lift off and such but overall I was very happy with all my lifts.
