Me at 3% BF

Some threads ago some of you wanted proof that I walk at 5% BF. I just got measured today to see where I'm at 2 weeks after going on a meal plan my nutritionist gave me (it's Apex based if you are familiar with it). He couldn't pinch much off of me today and said it was very hard to measure, but he said I'm around 3-3.5% BF. I decided to take it a bit further, so he's coming up with a hi/low plan where I consume high amounts of protein and low carb for 3 days straight and then 1 day high carb and low protein and follow that routine for 12 days, basically until we meet up again. After that happens, then we'll start working out upping my calories to put on some more mass. I'm 5'9" and weigh 170, I was about 177-180 a month ago. I consume about 3000 calories/day now. The biggest difference that my nutritionist noticed from the last time we met was my back. I've also been working my back and rear delts more to try to correct my posture since all the years of doing chest exercises, my shoulders hunch forward. I only do weight bearing exercises on my chest about 1-2 times/month now, most of what I do now are various forms of push ups. Whether you all think I'm 3-3.5% BF is your opinion, I don't care if you think I look that BF% or not, I'm only telling you what my nutritionist recorded. I don't have the most symmetrically correct body, but it is what it is.

I agree, you look cut and all but I don't know about 3%...at 3% you're getting into the paper skin thin area and you simply don't THAT thin.

It may look weird because he needs to shave/wax and get a tan, and then maybe it'll 'look' more 3% to the people on the forum -_-

You are definitely lean, but I honestly don't think that's a legitmate 3%. I think the dip is the only way to go, as opposed to the calipers. I don't know nearly as much about this as a lot of guys on here, I only know what I've personally seen. I will say that you are in great shape, but I just don't see the 3%, personally. I guess we'll see where the posts go from here...

True, but to get there those guys have to basically dehydrate themselves get that look. I asked him about that and he said the only reason I look the way I am right now is due to all the water in my body, if I sucked it all out, I'd get very close to that paper skin thin area.

It's more than just dehydration, it's a lifestyle of diet, training, and drugs. It takes Nearly 0 carbs as well.

Whatever you do, don't use the kind bodyfat measurer that is the electronic type that you hold out in front of you.

Those things suck.

I'm a tad over 6" weigh 220 have a 35" waist and it said I was 26%

That's 57.2 lbs of fat. I don't fukking think so......

That would be like carrying around FIVE 11 lb briskets on my body.....


As far as the OP, I would guess 7-9%. You're a lot leaner than I am, but I don't think that's anywhere near 3%.

I would say alot of it has to do with the camera and lighting. You could easily change the lighting and get 4-5% fat off of what you look there. My guess is you are closer to 8-10%. You do look pretty thick for 170 though.

Being a photographer myself I'll be the first to tell you that the lighting isn't going to affect how the definition of his muscles look. The only thing the lighting is going to affect is where the shadow from the light does or does not fall on the body. Someone who is 3-5% body fat will have much more definition to where each individual muscle and muscle group can more clearly be seen. If was 3-5% he'd look more like Lance Armstrong, who was only about 4% bodyfat after the tour de france. Lance Armstrong hangs between 5-7% during his normal training.

I was just stating the perception of more muscle tone would be more noticeable and some people would believe it to be lower. But I do agree that he is not Lance Armstrong status. I do think that Lance was about 150lbs or even less in the tour though.

Maybe 10% the very least.. Im at 12% and BF looks very, very close. You have more muscle though. (<-- 160)

10%-12% still isnt bad at all. After you get recalculated please go and slap your nutritionist. Oh, and you may even want to find a new one.

3% is around what body builders go on stage at i think and at that point you are very dehydrated i believe looks more like around 8-10%

just asking, because i just cant see where you get the time to devote to being so fit.
im a 235lbs guy and i cant seem to get the time to commit to the gym and i get told all the time "dude you need to get in the gym you would be huge"
