Hurt Back

I was doing bench today and somehow hurt my back. At least i think its my back it may be a rib. I hurt it somewhere in the middle of my back and now when i breath my rib hurts on my back. What did i do wrong? Has anyone else had this happen?

I need to stop betting with Silvercobra03 because I keep losing.

DONT LIFT. Let me guess, you arched your back to much or tried to adjust with the weight already up? I had same exact problem 3 months ago. I bet you the lint in my pocket its torn cartilage. Dont lift for a week or so.
I kept going at it and worked out "lightly" and i guess it tore more than it was suppose to and i couldnt move for 2 days.

maybe a pinched nerve. I get them from lifting heavy at least 2 times a month. They suck but i just keep pushing through them. I mostly get them in my back and neck.

No I did not arch my back and it was on a smith machine so i didnt try to adjust the weight either. I did try and finish my work out and it felt ok as long as i had weight on it but the moment i let off it hurt real bad

I need to stop betting with Silvercobra03 because I keep losing.

There's nothing wrong with arching back. I wish mine would arch more than the little bit that it does.

Like what Greg said, theres nothing wrong with it.

Im telling you the way you explained it in your previous post, i had the same exact issue/symptoms. You breathing and it hurts from your back to rib. Exact symptoms..... Take a week off just to be safe.

I 'set' my feet, scoot down a bit on the bench and get a 3" arch off of it in my back. this lets me get angle into the weight to help pin my shoulders by pressing my feet while pressing the bar.

You've either strained a muscle in your back by trying to force the weight, separated some cartilage, or pinched nerves. Hopefully it's the latter.

i got down to 315.. and when my wife got sick i pretty much stopped lifting and eating crap.

I did find something out when i went for my yearly physical. i am EXTREAMLY low on my Good cholesterol intake so i have to take in massive amounts of omega 3's and 6s.. this might be a reason why its hard for me to lose fat...

I think its going to be a while before i play with 505 again.. i think right now my goal is 405x15 before i put more weight on.

.
Thats one side of roidz!!!
Try some Niacin also. It'll give you nice tingle and burn from the inside but it's suppose to help with cholesterol more than the oils.

The multi i take has 250% Niacin along with everything else and has a joint complex in it also that may help with your shoulder. You may want to give it a try. I know you dont take supps but a multi is good. Look up Orange Triad or you can read about it on the lockout website.

I wouldnt bother going to ER or your doctor. I went when it tore more at the gym cause i couldnt move and i really wasnt sure if it was torn cartilage. I sat in the ER for two hours and all they gave me were pain meds and told me i had torn cartilage.

They way you explained your symptoms, i had the same exact problem. Id tough it out and not bother going to ER, i know i wouldnt if it happen again. Just my $.02.
