Stupid Challenge!!!

I know most of you scoff at the idea of 135lbs on bench, but I was just messing around after my workout last night and wanted to see how many times I could do it in one set.

Well the grand total was 44 3/4 ....I couldn't get that last 1/4th out .

So I guess if you feel like trying it tonight at the gym , POST your results.

EDIT: what a stupid 1000th post

Cowboys to the Super Bowl!!!!!

The last time I tried to put 135 up, 2" into my down motion on my first rep and I could feel my left shoulder wanting to slip out of socket. So, even your 12 times, deso, is better than my none.

I actually got 185 33 times right before surgery I also had maxed at 415 raw. I havent really been lifting hard at all. Just been maintaining. But I will try the 185 thing sometime next week or Sat. I would say that I can only get it about 20 or so right now.

Haven't done that in a long time, but we used to do 135lb. burnouts back in high school football for fun. Think the most I ever did was 40 or 50.

Sure it is, ask Don, and he's less than 160. You should be able to bench your body weight for reps, fairly easily.

How come all I ever hear you talk about is bench, incline, or shoulder press?
Just wondering if you work other muscle groups as well?

We have this one dumbass who comes into the gym in the mornings and has to
rep out 3 sets of 110lb dumbbell bench press before each workout(no matter what muscle group he is doing).
I think back in the day when I used to do that kind of dumbassery!!!

simple.. i cant squat any more. and i cant Dl. the last time i did squat was at 245 and i was doing 600lbs ass to ankles for sets of 4-5.. i never really got into Dling.. heaviest was repping 500lbs.. and then i fell down some steps and fucked up my lower back. so no more of that shit to me.. No one cares what some one legresses because depending on your foot placement, angle or machine it varies by 6-8 plates. what else do you want me to say? i can row fairly heavy.. but cant do bent over rows for the same reason..

Just wondering is all...
I agree totally about the leg press thing.
I can do 22 plates or 18 plates, it really just depends on what I do before the press.
I don't do ANY deadlifts or any freeweight squats for fear of injury.
Been there, hurt that.
I have started incorporating some 315lb squats on the smith machine and some 4 plate hack squats for a warmup though.
It has really helped warm my legs up before the press(hence the drop in plates).
As for rows...I row VERY heavy...it's one of my fav exercises.
I took Blakes advice(going light) and did 4 sets of 300lb lat pulls this week without any pain.
Weird how the pain comes and goes.
It still hurt though whenever I tried to do a pullup.

yup.. for legs i do Hacks, Leg press, leg ext, hamsting curl and donkeys..
my main mass movemnt for back is the hammer row machine.. i was able to get up to 8 plates on each side so 360per side + 15-25 lbs for the machine part..so my back can pull some wegiht. i just dont talk about squats because i was always a big squatter. and LOVED doing squatts. and i cant do them heavy ever again..

Yea, I was out for 3-4 months from a lower back injury back in 2003.
I hurt it on free weight squats or standing T-bar rows.
Not sure, either way I was in some serious PAIN!!!
Our hammer row machine at 24 hr is a joke...ours will only hold 6 plates per side.
I do sets of 12-15 and use it for more of a warmup before I start pulling weight.
I haven't done hammer machines in over 4 years and man...I sure did miss em!

we have the double sided hammer row machine so you have fit 7 plates on it. and kinda fit the 8th on it.. you just have to be real strict on the movement. if you start gorilla rowing it.. it might fall off. but that least keeps your form right.
I fell down a flight of steps. and was out of the gym for 6 years.

Damn, the hammer rows at LA Fitness only hold 5 plates like the bench ones.

Finally did this yesterday for fun. 135 x 23.

Thought I could do more, but I guess it'll only get better, so no biggie.
