Cardio before/after lifting?

I just did a mile on the treadmill, back and shoulders, and another mile and a half, and feel like I got twice the workout than if I just did lift-then-run. Did my best to keep my heart rate up while I lifted.

Does the science back me up here, or am I just tricking myself into thinking I am a workout god?

Looks like the optimal thing to do is either run first thing in the morning, or after lifting. :-/

OPTIMAL is doing cardio period.. if its either before lifting or never.. do it before lifting.. thats what im doing now.

When I do any significant amount of cardio before lifting then I lift considerably less. If your goal is to gain muscle mass then you don't want to do it first.

You have a point. There have been many a day where I'm spent by the time I'm finished lifting, so I skip the cardio.
