New Year Resolutions....

Well, we are half way through Jan....how is everyone doing on their resolutions? I figure a few more weeks and the gym's will be back to normal.

My goal was to limit my eating out, lower my soda intake and stay consistent with the gym and sports.

15 days and I have eaten out 3 times. Pretty pleased with everything so far. I was eating out twice a day at least. Talk about saving some cash too!

I've actually done decent, I've been eating a little better and getting to the gym 2-3 days a week. Already noticed some changes which feels good. My goal is to workout 4-5 days a week and drop to about 180lbs from 200!

So fucking ready for the fat asses that don't break a sweat to get the fuck out of my way. I got down in time yesterday before to many people and snagged the elliptical and put on my head phones to get my 40 mins of cardio in. Had people look at me like your 20 mins is up, but I really didn't give a shit.

I'm trying to get up to 220lbs before the end of the month (I'm up to 218lbs from 205lbs in early November), and hopefully bench double my bodyweight (raw). Then it's time to start leaning again.

I am maintaining 215 lbs this year and simply working on my cardio so I can once again hit 11 minutes in the two mile run. I haven't been in the 11 minute zone since the late 90's. The problem is maintaining the 215 lbs and not falling to the low 190's which is what generally happens when I run that much.

I weigh 205 right now. I compete at 198lbs. I like to train 10lbs heavy.
Deadlifts are the most important of all lifts.

Dang that is crazy you lift that much. that is alot of weight.

That means you are doing 4 45's on each side on your bench a total of 8 45s on the bar.
Your squat is 6 45's on each side with a total of 12 45s. I bet the bar is bending with that much weight. Man I am impressed. You are one strong motherfucker.

I guess I'm a bit jaded after lifting heavy with whitelighting. Granted 4 plates isn't light, but when you've seen it repped 12 times, and 5 plates repped 3 or 4, it's not so impressive any more. Having said that, I can barely toss up 405 twice at a body weight of 205lbs myself.

Well I will admit. IM FUCKING IMPRESSED. My gym is small though. I lift in Kaufman & the guys there think I am some freak when I lift 3 45s on each side.

I guess thats a part of living in the country since barely anyone lifts out there. Either way 405 is INSANE

I guess im just a lightweight.

Anyway, PT, I would recommend a Crossfit type routine if you are looking to increase your run times without losing too much mass. Run once or twice a week for practice.

Thank you for the recommendation I'll look into it. To answer your question, no, the Army had not looked into crossfit and I don't recall even hearing of it. I got out in 1998 and for the record 35 is not old Greg .

Where are you competing. I'm in the 242lbs Class. The 198s are a pretty strong class pound for pound.
my totals are
Bench I use no shirt in comp ( I believe it's all mental, plus I have short ass arms)

Bench 565
Sqaut 850
D. lift 765 <---- really need to improve on this

As of this year I will be quitting. I really don't have the time anymore and want to lose around 50lbs.
You need to keep going man your'e doing a kick ass job bro I'm 27 and have been doing it since highs chool(3 state titles 96' 97' 98' ) and very rarely did I see guys that were naturally strong (not meaning they were on roids although some were)
Consider yourself strong if you can lift at least 2x you body weight.

What do you weigh. I can do each one of my totals for 6 reps, so im sure I can bench 600 easily raw. my hardest by far would be deadlift. I fucking hate it. I once saw a guy in my bros. weight class 132 deadlift 735 . Now thats some shit!!! It's more to it than just a bench.

I have yet to lose anymore weight, but I also have not gained any. So I guess its not to bad for a month of eating like crap and not riding or running that much. I started back with everything this week, so I shall see.

Believe it or not he looked just like a regular guy. I heard all the hype about him and wanted to meet him but, never saw him at any meets. When I finally did I was like there is no fucking way. Proved me wrong. I think his Bench & Squat together was less than his DL. I was impressed

Thanks man, i've done 2 APF meets so far. I placed 3rd in the Texas Cup this year in the 198's. Jason Coker benched 749lbs against me at my weight which was more than the world record. haha I'd like to try 3 or 4 meets this year maybe in other feds too.

Lightning -- I've said before i'll never squat more than 405 without putting my knee wraps on at least. I have weak ass joints. Remember my wrist are only 6 inches and ankles are only 8. haha
With only knee wraps i did 575 last week. I put my suit on and put up 600 pretty easy. I didnt try for more that day. I've also done 200lbs for 45 reps. I'd like to see someone else here do that one.

On deadlift the suit does nothing for me. I cant lockout anymore weight with a suit on. It's easier to get off the ground but lockout is the same.

i used to want to be big, but it effects so many things in a negative way, that ive decided i would rather be just a lil strong and still be in normal size clothes, better golf swing, be able to wipe my ass properly...lol

yes I'm all natural. When I was 17 I benched 505 sqauted 780 and dead lifted 605. This was when I first started( I never even knew what protein was) The only thing I have ever taken up to this point is protein (muscle milk) as well as multi-vit.

No matter what anyone tells you, never ever lift without knee wraps when going heavy. And make sure whoever is wrapping you knows what the hell they are doing. A fucked up wrap is like not having it wrapped at all

It's tough as hell getting back up to your full potential after an injury. Good Luck man. Your still strong as a fucking ox though. I will never try to max anything heavier due to the fact that I have nothing to prove anymore. I'm more focused now on a healthier lifestyle/ getting a lot leaner

I here that, you lifts are impressive bro.

All this heavy lifting talk and almost fucked up big tonight. I was doing a 600lb squat which ties a personal best for me. On the way up i hit the hook that holds the bar. It pulled me down on one side pretty good. My spotter and i muscle fucked it up together but my back is sore as hell now.

been there done that, thats my main reason for not lifting too heavy anymore cause me and c go to the gym together, and i doubt she would be able to get 500lbs off my chest...

In situations like that It's better to just ride the weight down to the rack once youv'e hit the hooks = less injuries
<-------------- learned from that shit real quick

The lovely thing about being weak, is that I don't have to worry about injury near as much. heh
